The best way to make your food shop as sustainable as possible is to visit local markets, farm shops, or green grocers. But if that isn't possible for you, here's Sustain's top tips for what to look out for in the supermarket! 🛒 Avoid single-use plastic by purchasing loose fruit & veg. 🍏 Look for seasonal fruit & veg 🥬 Opt for locally grown, sourced, or produced goods. 🐟 (If you do eat fish) look for 'pole and line caught' or 'hand dived' 🦪 Opt for shellfish like oysters and mussels, or smaller fish like sardines. 🥫 Buy in larger quantities where possible to reduce packaging waste. And don't forget to take your reusable shopping bags! #Food #SustainableFood #Sustainability

🌿 #PlasticFreeJuly Tip #2: Go Green with Eco-Friendly Catering! 🥗🍴♻️ At Green On Set, we choose catering services that use compostable or reusable containers. We avoid single-use plastic cutlery and plates, opting for biodegradable or reusable alternatives instead. Did you know that compostable containers can break down in as little as 90 days, compared to hundreds of years for plastic? At the end of last year, we worked on a series where catering used ceramic plates and metal cutlery for the entire production. We loved not only the fact that there was no plastic used, but also the fact that this sort of lunch arrangement makes you sit down and actually take a break and enjoy the flavours, rather than eat your food on the go. So join us in making a difference—one meal at a time! 🌿 #Sustainability #GreenOnSet #EcoFriendlyCatering #PlasticFree #FilmSetSustainability

🐣 Easter is a day when families and friends get together to celebrate, typically with hearty lunches and well laid tables 🍽. Such an occasion, however, very often turns into a tangible increase in the amount of waste produced. It doesn't have to be this way: let's take a look at 5 tips for a #sustainableEaster ⬇ 1️⃣ Seasonal and #km0 products It is important to opt for local and seasonal products, without contributing to the significant impact of using products from other seasons or from far away. 2️⃣ Conscious shopping It is also crucial to buy only what is necessary, using a precise list to minimise waste as well as trips due to forgetfulness; it is better to choose products with long expiry dates and preferably loose, and in any case with light packaging. 3️⃣ Leftover food is not thrown away It is not at all uncommon at Easter lunch to have leftovers. These should absolutely not be thrown away: some can be put in the fridge to be eaten the next day, others should be frozen, using reusable containers. Those who run out of space in the freezer can get creative, reusing leftovers to create new recipes, from pies onwards. 4️⃣ Pay attention to labels Always check the expiry dates of food products to avoid wastage, making sure you understand them well. It should be emphasised that the statement "consume by" indicates a rather exact date beyond which one should not go, whereas "best before" indicates the day beyond which that product may no longer be optimal, but still consumable. Correct storage, of course, also plays an important role. 5️⃣ #WasteSorting correctly Finally, the last tip for a sustainable Easter is related to waste. At the end of the meal, it is indeed good to pay attention to waste separation. Let's think of the classic dove, for example: the outer box goes in the #paper, the plastic bag in the #plastics, and the baking mould, in the presence of residues, can go if compostable in the #organic, if not compostable in the #undifferentiated. . What other tips do you know? ♻ #sustainability #StopFoodWaste #NoFoodWaste

Product freshness is a primary concern for brands switching to compostable coffee packaging materials. The step toward sustainability cannot mean compromising the quality of the coffee. Unlike traditional plastic packaging, which can pollute the environment for decades, compostable coffee bags mitigate pollution and contribute to soil health when adequately disposed of. Additionally, compostable materials help align with promoting a circular economy, where waste is minimized and resources are reused or regenerated. #specialtycoffee #specialitycoffee #coffeebag #coffeepackaging #packagingdesign #coffeeshop #coffeeroasters #coffeeroastery #roastedcoffee #coffeebeans #specialtycoffeeroaster #coffeepeople #roastedcoffeebeans #coffeeexperience #kahve #kaffeerösterei #kaffee #baristadaily #brewedition #coffee #roastingcoffee #coffeeroasters #specialitycoffeeroasters #coffeebranding #coffeemarketing

Sustainable cocktails represent an eco-friendly approach in the beverage industry. This trend aims to reduce environmental impacts through various means. Firstly, the use of organic and local drink ingredients supports sustainable practices in the agricultural industry. Additionally, waste reduction strategies, limiting plastic usage, and preferring recyclable materials decrease the ecological footprint of these cocktails. Also, operational sustainability practices, such as energy conservation and optimizing water usage in drink service, are crucial. This trend focuses not only on the content of the beverages but also on production processes, emphasizing environmental responsibility in the industry. Sustainable cocktails provide a beverage experience that highlights both flavor and ethical values, aiming to instill environmental consciousness in consumers. This movement creates a win-win situation for both consumers and the beverage sector, contributing to adopting an eco-friendly attitude worldwide, alongside delivering delightful drinks. #cocktail #sustainable #ecological

#WhipItUpWednesdays with @Palate And Beyond Ditch the Plastic, Embrace Flavor: Sustainable Food Hacks We all love delicious food, but the mountains of plastic packaging can leave a heavy weight on our conscience. Fear not, eco-conscious foodies! There are plenty of ways to enjoy guilt-free gastronomy while minimizing your environmental impact. *Shop Smarter, Not More: -BYOB (Bring Your Own Bags): Ditch the flimsy plastic bags at checkout. Invest in reusable cloth bags or sturdy canvas totes. -Bulk Up: Many stores offer bulk bins for grains, nuts, and cereals. Bring your own containers (think mason jars or stainless steel canisters) and fill up on what you need. -Befriend the Produce Aisle: Skip the pre-packaged fruits and veggies. These often come with excessive plastic wrapping. -Plan Your Meals: Food waste is a big sustainability culprit. Plan your meals for the week and buy only what you'll use. *Think Reusable, Not Disposable: -Cup of Joe On-the-Go?: Skip the disposable coffee cups. Invest in a reusable travel mug and bring it to your favorite cafe. -Pack Your Lunch Like a Pro: Ditch the plastic wrap and baggies. Pack your lunch in reusable containers made from glass, stainless steel, or silicone. -Say No to Straws: Unless you absolutely need one, politely decline the straw with your drink. *Embrace Local and Seasonal: -Know Your Farmers: Support local farmers' markets. Fresher produce often comes with minimal packaging, and you get to build relationships with the people who grow your food. -Seasonal Feasts: Eating with the seasons allows you to enjoy the peak flavor of fruits and vegetables, often with less packaging and transportation involved. *Small Steps, Big Impact: -Going plastic-free and sustainable doesn't have to be overwhelming. Start small, incorporate these tips into your routine, and watch your environmental impact shrink while your love for good food flourishes!
