The Volkskrant reports that famous Dutch furniture brand Pastoe has closed its production. In 2010, Pastoe made this chair for Ecological Textiles and our partners NPSP Composites, Van Wees and Van de Bilt from a biocomposite based on flax fibres (instead of the glass fibres usually used). A typical minimalist Pastoe design, in this case by Maarten van Severen. The chair was made for an exhibition entitled Sustainable House. This expo was about how an interior designer could take into account themes such as the environment and sustainability. Back then, microplastics in furniture fabrics or environmentally harmful finishes where hardly an issue.
