At Vonco, we're not your typical solid waste management facility. We have created a habitat for several animals, including ospreys, who return yearly to lay eggs. Since 2017, when we built a tower with a nest on top of it, these friendly visitors have visited our facility. Adorned with a camera, Vonco's tower can observe these beautiful birds yearly and count the number of eggs they lay in their nest. This year, we have two! Whether it's prioritizing our neat appearance, the thousands of tons we recycle, or the flock of turkeys, herds of deer, or osprey that nest just outside of our office, we incorporate sustainable practices into our daily operations. Environmental stewardship is an integral part of Vonco culture. We are evolving because we are committed to doing better. GrowNYC compost program, in collaboration with the NYC Sanitation Department, is facing budget cuts as of courtesy of Mayor Adams. Which will take effect in the new year. This decision jeopardizes our environment and community well-being. Grow NYC is collecting signatures to petition Mayor Adams to reconsider and save the compost program. 📝 Composting isn't just waste reduction; it's a powerful tool against climate change.
