The EU must decarbonise heating and cooling by 2040 if it is to reach a climate neutral economy by 2050. As a member of the Cool Heating Coalition, we're calling on the European Commission and its newly re-elected President Ursula von der Leyen to: 🍏Commit to implementing the Green Deal ambitiously 🎯Publish a heating and cooling action plan 🛡️Task the Energy Commissioner with delivering a just heating and cooling transition 💰Allocate sufficient and socially targeted funding to enable workers and citizens to participate fully in the transition Read the letter: 🔗https://shorturl.at/t6l32 #CoolHeatingRevolution

Talks at the root with the EU Reps: Climate-neutrality Plans could be an important support for Polish district heating companies in their energy transformation. The ETS Directive - as amended by Fit for 55 Package - allows district heating companies to receive of an additional 30% of CO2 free emission allowances. The condition is to prepare Climate Neutrality Plans and to carry out investments that will lead to a significant reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030. This mechanism will accelerate the transformation of district heating in Poland. There is very limited time to implement these Plans. Cooperation and support in the preparation of the Plans, at both levels, national and EU, is needed. #energy #districtheating #heating #energytransition #energytransformation #heatingsolutions #heatingsystems

Last week the Climate Change Committee released the 2024 Progress Report to Parliament. Aira UK CEO, Daniel Särefjord shares his thoughts on the findings: “The Climate Change Committee’s latest progress report to Parliament is a call to action for British policymakers to drive positive change and accelerate the heat pump adoption across the UK. It shows the vital role the new government will play in decarbonising British homes and reaching the UK’s 2030 climate targets. There is no route to lowering and increasing stability on energy bills, or reaching net zero, without the new government's commitment to helping Britain’s homes become gas-free. With North Sea gas supplies in decline, and the polluting effects of burning fossil fuels, such as gas and oil now well understood, it is high time that the government moved to shift the balance of taxation to further encourage investment in renewable energy and heat pumps.” Read the full progress report here: https://lnkd.in/eBCF_KA5 #AiraHeatPump #CleanEnergyTech #CleanEnergyExperts #NetZero #Decarbonisation

🚀At Preflet, we will do all in our power to facilitate this directive.🚀💪 We already have an inexpensive solution that gives you hands-on control over your energy efficiency ( and bill 💵!!). #energyefficiency #energyAI #buildingsolutions
BIG WIN FOR THE CLIMATE AND FOR EUROPE'S BUILDINGS It is time to make our buildings green! Today the European Parliament adopted the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive. This means that we are putting buildings on track to be zero emission buildings. Today 40 % of EU's energy consumption comes from buildings. 1/3 of this is natural gas. Hence, we cannot reach our climate goals, we cannot get rid of Putin's gas, if we do not tackle our buildings. With today's vote, we have done exactly this. It's time to renovate, more renewables, heat pumps and clever use of energy. Saving energy is saving on the energy bill. If implemented well, this directive can free Europeans who are stuck in a badly insulated house with an expensive fossil fuel based heating solution from a lot of worries. Therefore, I am also deeply worried by the resistance that has been towards this directive. Today in plenary, 199 voted against and the ID group wanted the directive to be rejected. This is not the answer to the menace posed by climate change that will have far reaching consequences for European citizens. Ever more than expected, as currently revealed by the European Environment Agency. It was a hard and long battle to reach this milestone. Well done to my colleagues from across groups. Ciarán Cuffe, Tsvetelina Penkova, Morten Helveg Petersen and Sean Kelly for your excellent work.

Great Post from Niels Fulsang of the European Parliament on the milestone adoption of the Energy Performance Buildings Directive. Given that 40% of the EU's Energy Consumption comes from Buildings, and 1/3 of that is from using Putin's Natural Gas (Methane), this building directive will incentivise more renewables, better insulation and clever use of energy without expensive and polluting fossil fuel based heating solutions which are responsible for heating the planet. Halting global heating by phasing out fossil fuels needs actions to back up words and good intentions. Methane is the a greenhouse gas and is second most responsible for heating the planet. This directive on Natural Gas ( Methane) is the appropriate action needed in Europe. Building infrastructure needs to be resilient in a Europe that is not prepared for rapidly growing climate risks. The European Environment Agency has stated that climate change has brought climate-related extremes in Europe which has cost half a trillion Euros over the past 40 years. Curbing the use of fossil fuels such as Methane in heating buildings is an important step in the right direction for the EU.

🔥 Climate Action: A Call to Innovation in Industrial Heating! 🌿 The UK has achieved a remarkable 50% reduction in carbon emissions since 1990, but we still have a long way to go to meet our 2030 and 2050 targets. According to the UK's Climate Change Committee, we're only covering a third of the needed emissions reductions, requiring urgent action across all sectors, including industrial heating. At Schwank UK, we understand the challenges industries face in making this transition. Whether you're looking to shift from gas to electric heating, integrate natural gas alternatives like hydrogen, or simply improve your system's efficiency, Schwank has the expertise and solutions to support you. Together, we can make a significant impact on reducing emissions and paving the way for a sustainable future. Let's innovate and invest in technologies that not only help us meet the UK's climate goals but also enhance energy efficiency and reduce costs in the long run. You can take a look at our electric heaters here: https://lnkd.in/ePkNiE98 And our hydrogen heaters here: https://lnkd.in/ehrgNRc9 Join us in leading the charge towards a greener, more sustainable industrial future. 🌍💡 #NetZero #SustainableIndustry #ClimateAction #SchwankUK

Before everyone holds their nose and agrees to the Energy Permitting Reform Act because it's "a pill worth swallowing," I'd suggest you look at the effects of other deals brokered by Manchin, which have expanded clean energy in the US along with empowering the US to become the top fossil fuel exporter in the world. For more on this, check out the smart analysis in Jeremy Symons' Climate Insider. Our recent paper in PLOS ONE provides more evidence based on our research around the Inflation Reduction Act (pdf available here: https://lnkd.in/eibMT-zY) https://lnkd.in/eCcuqBpf

UK Net Zero - where is the voice of the electorate? The attached is from National Grid’s Future Energy Scenarios. (https://lnkd.in/eVkBq5Ry) When you consider that the passenger car is the largest user of other fuels it is clear that the electorate is the largest energy use sector. My inboxes and media feeds are full of energy provision conferences and articles from organisations with vested interests. Who is looking after the nation’s citizens here? Of course that should be Westminster and, if you are Scottish, Holyrood. Based on my experience our elected representatives fall way short on the required skills needed to assess and steer future energy strategy. Many appear to have been seduced by vested interest lobbyists. When citizens are struggling to pay bills, climate management is understandably not a priority. They have more immediate issues to deal with than bother with holding elected representatives to account on climate management. In such circumstances we need informed leadership - where is it?
