Econa - Our sustainable approach to design 🍃 As we celebrate #EarthDay, we emphasise our commitment as a company to a sustainable product design process. 🚚 Local suppliers: Reduction of emissions, source of renewable energy, efficient use of materials, as well as the respect of the environment and the employees. That is why we are looking for partners within 130 km. 🔧 Repairable: A product can only last if it is repairable. The components of our products are repairable and replaceable, looking for a disassemblable perspective. 🌿 Disassembled: All new products are designed with long-term design goals in mind. This means no more glue being used in the assembly process and the inclusion of removable and replaceable upholsteries. 🔄 Recycled Materials: We are constantly looking for innovative, eco-friendly materials that can meet the requirements of zero-impact production. Our upholstery collection includes a wide selection of 100% recycled fabrics. #Sitland #Econa #sustainableapproachtodesign #sustainability

I have a passion for Scandinavian design. More and more brands are introducing purely sustainable products to the market, such as Wehlers, Mater, and others like Normann Copenhagen have a chair, like the Mat chair. But what does #sustainability mean in the interior design industry? I'm eager to hear your opinions, because I want to learn more about it. Does the EU's Eco-design Regulation have a significant impact on the interior industry? This regulation aims to enhance the environmental compatibility of products by imposing stringent requirements on their design and manufacturing. For the interior industry, this could mean a heightened focus on the development and production of sustainable products. What constitutes sustainable products? - A product made from ocean plastic can be considered sustainable if the plastic is sourced from cleaned ocean debris, contributing to reducing environmental pollution? - A product that can be completely recycled into individual components and reintroduced into the circular economy? - Products made from renewable materials like wood, bamboo, hemp, or cork are also deemed sustainable, as these materials are renewable and less environmentally harmful than non-renewable materials like plastic or metal? - A high-end premium product that lasts for generations could also be seen as sustainable, as it reduces the need for regular replacements, leading to less waste and overall lower resource consumption, provided it can be repaired with spare parts? - Are they products that are energy-efficient in their manufacturing process? This means they either consume minimal energy or require minimal energy during production.

Another significant achievement to commemorate on our sustainability path! I am proud to be part of a company that is genuinely dedicated to driving impactful change and shaping a brighter future. Autex Acoustics Australia are excited to announce that all our products are moving to a minimum of 80% recycled content. This is a huge milestone for us on our sustainability journey, and we are so proud of everything we've achieved so far. We always aim to continuously develop our sustainable practices to do good now and in the future. Looking at how we can use materials with less impact is just one way we keep our footprint small. Here are a few milestone moments we are most proud of: 2024 - Released SpinFix™ adhesive-free mounting made from 100% recycled material -Transitioned our entire product range to a minimum of 80% recycled content 2022 - We balanced all emissions from our global operations to zero 2021 - We balanced all emissions from our acoustic products to zero 2020 - Dematerialisation project, which reduced raw material use by 30% for core product 2012 - Reclaimed waste trimmings, reducing raw material use and associated emission 1990 - Established a zero-waste production line More on Autex Acoustics here: https://lnkd.in/gY5kHUYY #sustainability #recycled #architects #autexacoustics #architects #interiordesign #sustainableproducts #carbonneutral #brisbanearchitecture #brisbanearchitects #acousticsolutions #brisbaneinteriors #design

Longevity is key 🌿 from the first sketches to the final product, every design is made to last - crafted from the finest and most durable natural materials. Our designers focus on optimising the longevity of each products while minimising its footprint, by finding ways to use less material and energy for manufacturing. We consider how we can reduce waste and improve packaging. How the design can be repaired and recycled. How we can rethink parts and components to be replaceable. During the mid to late 20th century, #furnituredesign was nearly 100% linear (take, make, waste). The industry, including manufacturing, has evolved significantly since shifting its focus to recycling (reduce, reuse, recycle - w/waste) to drive #sustainability. But this model still does not close the loop and eliminate waste and designers are looking toward #circularity (reduce, reuse, repair, recycle - eliminating waste) to do so. In our latest blog, you will read three fresh perspectives from innovators in circularity in commercial furniture design on the materials, logistics, and incentives we’ll need to close the loop. https://lnkd.in/gGpYniZa #transformingdesign #idodesign #zerowaste #sustainabledesign #closetheloop

Modern home design is increasingly placing a stronger emphasis on sustainability, and as more environmentally solutions come onto the market, home-owners are looking for options that reduce their carbon footprint and offer a smarter, greener solution. Low carbon glass is a great substitute for regular glass as it is manufactured using environmentally-friendly manufacturing techniques. By employing raw and recycled resources, such as broken or rejected glass, low-carbon glass is made with less energy and releases less carbon emissions. This type of glass contains all the properties of conventional glass without the negative effects. We explore this and more in our article ‘The Benefits of Low Carbon Glass’, do check it out on our website (the link is in the comments.) #LowCarbonGlass #Sustainability #EnvironmentalSolutions #ToughenedGlass

There has been a significant shift in the world of design towards embracing sustainable practices and eco-friendly materials. With a growing focus on environmental consciousness, designers are increasingly recognizing the importance of incorporating sustainability into their work. This trend, known as sustainable design, is not just a passing fad but rather a fundamental shift in the way we approach design. Read more: https://lnkd.in/erZjZ8Wz

Reducing unnecessary waste with sign design 🌍 Let's talk about two simple yet impactful ways we can reduce waste at the design stage. 📏 Optimising Design for Substrate Sheet Sizing: As a trade converter of sheet materials we cut to our customer specification and often try to guide clients on the best yield potential for their jobs. On large projects the size of the sign blank can make a huge difference in the amount of sheet wastage. In some circumstances just reducing a design by 10mm could mean a reduction of sheet usage by 50%. Of course, if a project has progressed to a live status it can be hard to change size specification, So it is always advised to try and consider your material sheet sizes at the design stage. 🔄 Prioritising Recyclability in Material Selection: It is also important to think beyond just production and design – consider the end-of-life cycle of your signage materials. Choosing materials that are easily recyclable ensures that our signage contributes to a circular economy, minimising environmental impact and maximising resource efficiency. Refining the approach to signage design and planning with a strong emphasis on waste reduction and sustainability is pivotal in presenting a more environmentally conscious front. By prioritizing these factors, we can effectively minimize our overall environmental footprint and contribute to a healthier planet. #SustainableSignage #ReduceWaste #EcoDesign #RecyclableMaterials

So many of the brands I represent have eco-consciousness embedded in their design and through every stage of production. Jess never throws anything out with residual materials used to create new designs. Check out their Global Balance collection of chairs and stools. New Design Group are dedicated to working with suppliers who embrace sustainability and recycle materials. Their current range of Venue tables use eco-conscious manufacturing materials with less tooling, less components and less environmental impact. And this isn't greenwashing. This is caring about the origin of each and every material, the supply chain and how to deal with waste and recycling. As we emerge from the depths of winter, finally glad to see leaves on the trees, it's a good time to reflect on environmental impact and purchasing choices. #SustainableLiving #EcoLiving #SustainableFurniture #Sustainability #ContractFurniture
