I recently sat down with the Washington Post, my colleague Caitlin Tessin, VP of Strategy and Market Innovation, Gas Transmission and Midstream and former Congressman Tim Ryan to discuss how we can address the energy trilemma. At Enbridge, our vision is simple: to provide energy in a safe and more planet-friendly way, everywhere people need it. I couldn’t agree more with Caitlin and Tim on how we tackle today’s energy challenges. Read more about our discussion in the article: https://ow.ly/mzzm50RV5iU

Did you know Solar Turbines has installed over 16,500 gas turbines worldwide? The 400 horsepower Jupiter T-520 pictured here, was the very first gas turbine we sold commercially! This particular engine and generator set was used by the Texas Eastern Pipeline Company in 1958. Learn more about Solar Turbines' history: https://lnkd.in/gyMPd-H #ThrowbackThursday

READ: Texas has seen tremendous growth in wind and solar generation capacity. But intermittent resources aren’t enough to ensure reliability in meeting the state’s growing electricity demand — and inadequate investment in dispatchable resources like natural gas and batteries means the grid’s stability is increasingly at risk. To enhance reliability, state grid operator ERCOT could deploy a portfolio of available “insurance” options, write experts from the Baker Institute Center for Energy Studies (CES). Their new report outlines the risk to the grid and ways to work toward the best interests of all market participants, consumers and producers alike. 📖 Access the report: https://bit.ly/42Cyhub.

Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting | Natural Gas, Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS), Nuclear Energy
Looking forward to moderating this amazing panel of natural gas experts at the Illinois Manufacturers' Association annual Environment & Energy Conference next week in Tinley Park. The market is sending a clear signal of momentum for #naturalgas, from soaring demand from data centers to an increased focus on energy affordability. At the same time, local and state governments -- including in Illinois -- are continuing to propose restrictions and "transition" plans to phase out gas to address climate change. How that all settles will have major ramifications for household energy bills, greenhouse gas emissions, and industrial competitiveness. The timing for this "Future of Gas" panel could not be better!
Join Steve Everley at this year’s Illinois Manufacturers' Association Environment & Energy Conference for a discussion about the future of gas. On Oct. 22, Steve will moderate a panel including Meena Beyers (Nicor Gas), Becky Rinyo Heckendorn (Constellation) and Andy Parker (Ameren) to share insights on the importance of natural gas and the impact restrictions can have on manufacturers in the energy industry. To move from an electricity system based on coal and gas to one based on solar and wind, the US needs a very different power grid. On some estimates, annual installations of new transmission capacity need to double. To help build the grid that a new clean electricity system will need, the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has been working on regulatory reforms, intended to smooth the path for new investments in transmission lines. This week on The Energy Gang, Ed is joined by Amy Myers-Jaffe of New York University and Shanu Mathew of Lazard Asset Management, to unpack the latest orders from FERC. U.S. power plant operators generated 6.9 million megawatt hours of electricity from natural gas on a daily basis in the Lower 48 states on July 9, "probably the most in history and certainly since at least January 1, 2019, when we began to collect hourly data about natural gas generation," the Energy Information Administration reported.
