Funny, we have about 2000 drone "experts" deriding domestic drone companies and supporting this Chinese drone ecosystem. The #CCP #PRC supports and promotes its drone industry inside and outside of China. "It is noted that UAVs are widely used in the PRC both for personal purposes and in geographic mapping, film and television aerial photography, rescue operations, telecommunications and meteorological observation. Han Jun also said that drones are widely used in the delivery industry."

#UAVs or #drones could help improve sustainability of #horticulture. Until our FAO/EBRD project took a lead, there was very little experience globally in the use of these de-facto #robots in production of fruits, berries, vegetables or nuts. The best we could get was #imaging experience and even that was at the very experimental stage. Once first practical experiments took place, mostly in the #orchards and fields of #Ukraine, we discovered that we really can't even imagine all of the opportunities that drones could bring to horticulture! This is the final video from our "drone series" developed with the kind support of DroneUA and EastFruit teams. That's a frank experience of a farm, which used drones of #blueberries and saw a lot of advantages. Drone attack on Lviv: three hits in industrial warehouses, the condition of the victim is moderate. Source Censor NET. War in Ukraine.https://censor.net/ua/n3444281 During the air alert, which began at 03:40 on September 19 and lasted for almost 2.5 hours, Lviv region was attacked by Shahed-type kamikaze drones. Three hits were recorded in industrial warehouses in Lviv. This was announced on Facebook by the head of Lviv OVA Maksym Kozytskyi, Censor.NET informs. According to preliminary information, 18 such drones flew in the direction of the region. 15 of them were shot down. Seven were shot down directly in the airspace of the Lviv region. The figures may still change a little, the information is being clarified. "Unfortunately, there were three hits on industrial warehouses in Lviv. One dead man. One 26-year-old man was injured. He was in the warehouse at the time of the attack. He was hospitalized. He is in a medium condition. There was also a woman there, she did not require hospitalization," the message reads. As a result of the Russian attack on Lviv on the night of September 19, a warehouse with 300 tons of humanitarian aid burned to the ground. Kozytskyi also notes that there are fires in four locations in the warehouses. The fire is still being extinguished. "I want to emphasize that these are ordinary industrial warehouses. The War in Ukraine update: Florin Jipa, Security & Defense Monitor Ukrainian general Budanov: from the see the dominance of maritime drones over conventional warships. Drones will dominate conventional ships, believes General Chirilo Budanov, head of the Military Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Army, according to Nexta. Budanov stated that robotic naval platforms are being improved for surface combat. In particular, they are equipped with systems to hit small surface and air targets and to hit the coasts. "So over time we will probably see the complete dominance of unmanned ships over conventional warships.At least in closed or semi-closed waters, such as the Black Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, etc. This is the way forward," said Budanov. Ukraine destroyed 33% of the ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet and forced Russia to withdraw all its warships from Crimean ports, as Ukraine started this war without military ships. Russia initially used the ships to conquer Snake Island, support the land forces with fire, the transport of equipment and also planned a landing action in the Ukrainian Odesa Region, which it later abandoned, after the flagship vessel of the russian fleet - the Moskva cruiser, was sunk. Ukraine is on the third generation of surface maritime drones, the Magura V5 drones, which only in May destroyed two Russian ships, one a patrol one and another missile carrier.

A discussion arose about a BOAC early version of the Comet that was seen in the US in 1958. This was unusual because the earlier Comet 1s had been grounded and withdrawn from service as early as 1953. The first commercial jetliner revolutionized air travel as early as 1952. "It was the Concorde of its day – it flew higher, faster, and smoother than any other airliner of that time and made everything else obsolete." - Alistair Hodgson, de Havilland Museum Unfortunately, de Havilland and British aviation generally paid a high price for pioneering jet transport due to the structural failure of the pressure cabin caused by fatigue. This led to the crashes of BOAC's G-ALYP near Elba and G-ALYY near Naples, which ultimately ended the Comet's success story. The De Havilland DH.106 Comet 2 had several sub-variants. The image shows the Comet 2E, which had Avon 504s Turbojets in the inner nacelles and Avon 524s in the outer ones. BOAC used these aircraft for proving flights during 1957–1958. The North American proving route flight was the test for introducing the Comet 4 to be the first Transatlantic crossing of a Jetliner with paying passengers, which BOAC won over Pan American with their Boeing 707s in 1958. I believe that this is the first time that we have seen an FPV UAV attacking a reconnaissance UAV (a Russian ZALA) from the perspective of the latter.   These attacks are now routine but they are usually filmed from the FPV drone.   I have yet to see any video confirming that the Russians have successfully mastered this technique and have been able to bring down Ukrainian surveillance drones in the same way. Ukraine clearly has the edge in this area.   It is difficult to tell but it appears that the FPV drone warhead is a 60 mm high-explosive mortar bomb that has been fitted with a remotely controlled fuze. This indicates that this particular CUAS technique is developing. Previous versions of the FPV drones carried warheads that required direct contact with the other drone to detonate. Employing a warhead that can be remotely-triggered increases the likelihood of a successful kill. The high-explosive mortar bomb can use its blast and fragmentation effects to destroy the enemy drone in the immediate area, rather than relying on the tricky business of running one drone into another while both are flying.   https://t.me/TyskNIP/12273   #ukrainewar #osint #drones #EOD

A bit of a mystery for today. When I found this photo I assumed it was a rare British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) in-service shot of the ill-fated de Havilland Comet 1, the world's first pure jet airliner. However the "G-AMXK" registration does not match any BOAC Comet 1. Furthermore the 1958 year and Baltimore, U.S.A. location assigned to this shot does not match the 1952-54 service dates and routes for the original Comet. Apparently this is actually an example of the first redesign of the type, the Comet 2. BOAC had ordered 11 of this variant prior to the catastrophic loss of two of its Comet 1's in the well-known "metal fatigue" crashes. After those accidents, however the orders were cancelled. Apparently a few Comet 2's were briefly painted up in BOAC colors prior to the cancellation, but that would have been well before 1958 and what, then, was a variant without transatlantic range doing at Friendship Field?
