Eden's teams meticulously collect, sort, and count the propagules to ensure precise quantities for planting. Once prepared, they are loaded into buckets and distributed to planting teams. The mangrove species featured in this photo are primarily Ceriops tagal. These mangroves are crucial in stabilizing shorelines, reducing erosion, providing critical habitat for marine life, and sequestering carbon. By partnering with Eden, you are helping us restore natural habitats, support local communities, and foster biodiversity. Insects, despite their small size, have a monumental impact on our ecosystem, serving as one of the backbones of biodiversity by pollinating flowers and feeding migratory birds. Their declining numbers could have catastrophic ripple effects. It is crucial to improve land conditions so that various flora and fauna species, like insects, can live and thrive. The #ZurichForest Project, a collaboration with Instituto Terra, is not just about bringing back a forest but also about supporting and nurturing a whole ecosystem that flourishes and thrives. including insects and birds. Our #RegenerativeEnergy solar farms are providing homes for more than just our sheep, guard donkeys, and photons. Entirely new ecosystems are springing up under our panels. "This land is now becoming a functional grassland ecosystem. We're seeing quail come back; we're seeing pheasant come back; we're seeing more wildlife and greater biodiversity; we're seeing more native bumblebees and monarch butterflies." Pollinators play a crucial role in our ecosystems, often going unnoticed as the unsung heroes of nature. From buzzing bees to fluttering butterflies, these winged allies are the lifeblood of our world, transferring pollen from flower to flower and enabling the reproduction of plants. Celebrating Pollinator Week is a great way to raise awareness about the importance of these tiny creatures and how we can support them. Without pollinators, the journey from flowers to fruits would be impossible, highlighting why they are truly nature's superheroes and the real MVPs of our ecosystems. #PollinatorWeek
Today marks the beginning of #PollinatorWeek—celebrated annually to promote the health of pollinators such as bees, birds, butterflies, bats, beetles, moths, wasps and flies, and the critical role they play in biodiversity. Pollinators depend on thriving ecosystems. Through our habitat conservation and restoration work, at Ducks Unlimited Canada we are bringing life back to threatened ecosystems. Stay tuned to learn more throughout the week, and for a primer on biodiversity, visit: https://loom.ly/OTilWEg #DucksUnlimitedCanada #Pollinators #Biodiversity #Habitat #Conservation #Restoration #Ecosystems

Our latest Frog Blog, The Croak is live: https://lnkd.in/dmjMzsTa We are often aware of the threats that cause declines in real time, but the insidious effects of past habitat transformation leaves many species hanging on in fragmented and sub-functional ecosystems. Understanding species requirements to inform restoration efforts and conservation management is critical to reversing these trends and putting species on the path to recovery. #extinction #extinctiondebt #speciesrecovery #habitatrestoration #FrogFriday

🌿 The Power of Keystone Species in Our Ecosystems 🐺 Keystone species play a critical role in maintaining the balance of our ecosystems. These species have a disproportionately large impact on their environment relative to their abundance. 🦁🌾 Here are a few key examples: Wolves in Yellowstone: The reintroduction of wolves has transformed the ecosystem, controlling elk populations and allowing vegetation and other wildlife to thrive. Beavers: Known as nature’s engineers, beavers create wetlands that provide habitat for countless species and improve water quality. Sea Otters: By preying on sea urchins, sea otters protect kelp forests, which are vital underwater ecosystems. Without keystone species, ecosystems can become unbalanced, leading to cascading effects on other species and the environment. It's crucial to protect these vital organisms to ensure the health and stability of our natural world. 🌍💚 #KeystoneSpecies #Biodiversity #Ecosystem #WildlifeConservation #NatureMatters #ProtectOurPlanet #EnvironmentalAwareness #Wildlife #ConservationHeroes #NatureBalance

Part One: The Northern Migration 🌱 Over the past decade, mangroves have been steadily migrating north due to a warming environment and fewer cold freezes. This northward movement is transforming traditional salt marsh habitats in significant ways. As mangroves replace salt marshes, it's important to note how that may impact local biodiversity. Understanding these changes is crucial for coastal conservation efforts. At MANG, we’re dedicated to educating and raising awareness about the importance of mangroves in our ecosystems. Join us in learning more about these vital transformations. Every product you purchase plants a mangrove tree, helping to protect and restore our coastal environments. 🌎🌱 #manggear #MANG #mangroves #buyoneplantone

Reintroducing beaver in Scotland brought more species back! In Knapdale, Scotland, beavers reintroduced in 2009 have transformed the habitat, creating safe environments for endangered water voles by blurring the boundaries between land and water. This natural engineering provides voles with protection from predators and supports the growth of diverse plant life. The beavers' dam-building activities created "edge habitats" with complex and seasonally flooded boundaries. These areas are perfect for water voles to dig burrows safe from predators like mink. Additionally, the seasonal flooding promoted diverse plant life, enhancing the overall habitat. The beavers' ability to create and maintain wetlands showcases how rewilding can naturally restore ecosystems. These success stories highlight the urgent need to continue rewilding projects and reintroducing species locally eradicated by human activities. Each step towards rewilding brings us closer to healthier ecosystems and a more alive planet. #Rewilding #Conservation #Biodiversity #Sustainability #EcosystemRestoration Read more about the Knapdale beavers' impact: The Guardian https://lnkd.in/d8NTzAtV The Independent https://lnkd.in/dVcPXB4C Belstad https://lnkd.in/dkVJM_fu Brief https://lnkd.in/dpE3dV9k Credit: Tasos Tsouramanis via iNaturalist, licensed under [CC BY-NC 4.0](https://lnkd.in/dyqkbGzB).

🦜 On National Threatened Species Day, we’re turning our attention to the Mallee Emu-wren (Stipiturus mallee), a tiny but critically important bird found in the South Australian Murray Mallee region. This bird is not only one of Australia's smallest species, weighing just 6.5 grams, but also one of the most endangered. Its habitat, dense spinifex grasslands, has been significantly reduced due to large-scale fires and habitat destruction. Captured beautifully by the talented Tom Hunt @moth_nut 📸 🔥 The Mallee Emu-wren relies heavily on spinifex for cover and nesting, and with the increasing threat of bushfires, their future remains uncertain. 🌱 We can all support biodiversity by planting native species that recreate and protect these crucial habitats. By incorporating plants like spinifex into garden designs, we can do our small part in contributing to the conservation of vulnerable species like the Mallee Emu-wren. #EndangeredSpecies #BiodiversityMatters #Conservation #ProtectOurPlanet #EverGreenGardening #AdelaideWildlife

Land Management Consultant | Maximising Land Value While Enhancing Wildlife Habitats | Specialist in Sustainable Land Use
The Ecological Benefits of Ivy Ivy often gets a bad rap, but it plays a crucial role in our ecosystems. This time of year, ivy hedges are alive with activity, attracting butterflies, honeybees and hoverflies. As wildflowers bloomed early this year, this ivy provides essential late-season nectar for pollinators. Importantly, ivy is unlikely to harm trees and instead offers shelter and support for wildlife. So, let’s recognise ivy as a valuable asset in promoting biodiversity and supporting our local ecosystems. If you need help with any of your land management needs, why not book a free consultation todayhttps://lnkd.in/e4GBq8vd #Biodiversity #PollinatorSupport #SustainableLandscaping #UrbanWildlife #EcologicalConsulting #LandManagement
