In the wake of this pressing issue, Rosterfy’s latest white paper, 'How Volunteer Managers and Fundraising Teams can work together to meet fundraising targets' provides a roadmap for collaboration that could be instrumental in overcoming the funding shortfall. Some of you may know that this weekend is Worcester Half Marathon. As part of SJL Insurance Services ongoing charity commitment a few of our guys are running to raise money for Acorns Children's Hospice. Which I'm sure if you are aware of the work that they do is a really important cause that raises money for children with complex medical needs. Currently Acorns Children's Hospice is facing the unimaginable prospect of turning away a child in need for the first time in their history this is due to the Government considering scrapping The Children's Hospice Grant which is vital for charities like Acorns to continue providing the care for families that is so crucial. The current cost of running a hospice comes in at over £10,000 a day which I'm sure you would agree is a staggering fee that is only made possible by donations. So if you were considering donating in the past now is the time as your money could be life changing for a family in need. (Even more impressive is that Ollie has just welcomed two beautiful little twin girls into the world so his training has had to revolve around no sleep and a very hectic couple of weeks.) One of the often overlooked consequences of a cost-of-living crisis is the impact on charities. When people have less, they have less to give. There are 27,000 registered charities in Aotearoa, many of which provide life-changing services to our society's most vulnerable.
