EDGE Buildings’ Post

Today we celebrated the successful accreditation of engineers as ‘EDGE Experts’ trained on how to design #greenbuildings in #Jordan. These engineers come from Jordan’s government and municipalities and join a pool of 'EDGE Experts' from the private sector, marking a more than twofold increase in the number of Jordanians who hold this accreditation over the past year and a half.     This is key given that buildings are responsible for approximately 39% of global energy-related GHG emissions and are major consumers of both energy and water. This new initiative is expected to help increase the number of green buildings in Jordan and support the country’s sustainability goals by reducing GHG emissions and improving resource efficiency in the construction sector. It is implemented in collaboration with بنك تنمية المدن والقرى - الأردن CVDB - Jordan and in partnership with the government of the Netherlands (Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken).    Globally, EDGE Buildings - Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies - is an IFC innovation designed to advance sustainable building practices and expand their impact. It is currently funded by UK’s Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, with original funding from Switzerland's SECO Economic Cooperation and Development .
