Celebrating Women in Construction Week with Katie Coppens, Foreman! ⚡ How many years have you been in the construction industry? Almost 10 years. ⚡ What is your favorite part of your job? The people I work with, construction is like having a second family! ⚡What is the biggest challenge that you face as a woman in the construction industry? They rarely have size small for gloves!! ⚡What is one thing you would tell all women about the trades? I would tell all women that the trades are one of the most rewarding careers out there. You have to be tough and willing to get dirty, but at the end of each day you get to go home with a feeling of accomplishment. You also get to point at cool stuff and say “I did that”. #WomenInConstruction #WICWeek #WomenInConstructionWeek #MJElectric #WeAreQuanta

As a woman safety specialist in the construction industry, I’m proud to be part of a movement that is reshaping the landscape of safety and inclusivity. Every day, I have the privilege of not only ensuring the well-being of workers on construction sites but also challenging stereotypes and paving the way for future generations of women in this field. In a traditionally male-dominated industry, I’ve learned that true progress comes from embracing diversity, harnessing the power of collaboration, and leading by example. By fostering a culture of safety, respect, and equality, we create environments where everyone can thrive and succeed. To my fellow women in construction safety: You are not just breaking barriers; you are building bridges to a more inclusive and equitable future. Your expertise, passion, and perseverance inspire us all to reach higher, push further, and never settle for the status quo. Together, let’s continue to champion safety, drive innovation, and empower each other to make a lasting impact in the construction industry and beyond. #WomenInSafety #ConstructionSafety #Empowerment #DiversityandInclusion #Leadership #WilliamsPlumbingandHeating #WilliamsCivilConstruction

As we celebrate Women in Construction Week, we want to emphasize the importance of every role women play in this industry. One such trailblazer is our very own Judy Dusk, whose role as a project coordinator ensures that all labor forces are paid correctly and all contractors have the necessary insurance for each project.🚧👷♀️ Her role goes beyond administration; it's a testament to the integrity and fairness that defines our industry. She says, "My role as a woman in construction is not just vital but transformative. I ensure that everyone on our team receives their rightful pay and that the proper insurance backs our projects. But more than that, I am part of a paradigm shift, proving every day that construction is no longer only a man's world." Indeed, her work echoes research showing that women bring efficiency, analytical thinking, and a range of skills that enrich the construction industry. And it's not just about gender diversity; companies with women in leadership roles often report higher levels of employee satisfaction, lower turnover rates, and better project outcomes. So here's to Judy and all the women breaking barriers, challenging norms, and building a better world. Your contributions are not just constructing buildings; they're reshaping an industry. Stay tuned as we continue to spotlight more remarkable women during #WomenInConstructionWeek! #UJAMAAConstruction #BuildingCommunity #WomenInConstruction #TheUJAMAAWay

👷♂️ A Message to All the Men in Construction 👷♂️ I want you to pause for a moment and think about the significant women in your life—your wife, daughter, sister, mother, or friend. 💭 Now imagine them working in an environment where: 💬 Their bodies are constantly commented on. 👀 Their contributions are ignored or talked over in meetings. 🤬 They're being belittled or threatened—both in person and online. 💸 They're paid less for doing the same job as a man. How would you feel if this was happening to them every day? Would you be angry? 😡 Would you want to stand up for them? Would you step in to protect them? The reality is, this is happening every day to thousands of women in the construction industry. The women who choose to step into the world of hard hats and heavy machinery often face these challenges—just because they are women. 🚨 I get it—there's a lot of change happening in the industry right now. With more focus on getting women into construction, it can feel uncertain, even threatening. But here's the thing: This isn't about “stealing jobs.” It's about creating a safe and supportive environment for everyone. 💪 I’m calling on you to tap into that protective instinct—the one that makes you want to stand up for the women you love. Let’s bring that same energy into the workplace. It's time to shift the narrative: 🛠️ From: “Women are here to take our jobs.” 🛠️ To: “We are here to create an industry that is safe, inclusive, and supportive for ALL.” Because when women thrive, we all thrive. Now is this time to build a construction industry that we can all be proud of—together. 🏗️👷♀️👷♂️ Will you join me? 👇 Share your thoughts in the comments. Let’s start the conversation. #ConstructionCulture #WomenInConstruction #Allyship #InclusionMatters #WorkplaceSafety #MenSupportingWomen #Leadership #ChangeTheNarrative #SafeWorkplace

Hoffman Women in Construction: Zohar Dvir, Trestle Project Manager (Israel) Q: What do you like about working for Hoffman? A: I love that the organization allows me to express myself, whether that means that I can express my opinions, bring up questions on things, and express my thoughts so that I feel like I'm part of the decision-making process. Also, I like the fact that I’ve been given an opportunity to make changes and influence procedures and grow inside the organization. At Hoffman I feel like I’m part of the team. I also appreciate my manager's support, he gives me freedom to make professional decisions and supports them. Q: What are some of the challenges you’ve overcome being a woman in construction? A: Obviously construction is a very male dominated field so I think the hardest thing for me was to find the way to be heard and respected among my male colleagues and learn how to communicate with the superintendents. #WomeninConstructionWeek #WomeninConstruction #wicweek #wicweek24 #womeninconstructionweek2024 #internationalwomensday #internationalwomensday24 #hoffmanbuilds

Women bring different ideas, new approaches, and new, bright energy to construction. Their different point-of-view and backgrounds adds knowledge that was previously untapped, growing the potential of the industry. COVE is currently establishing initiatives to increase the number of women in construction and to make the industry more inclusive. It’s work worth doing to improve construction work for everyone.
