Edgewood was pleased to be one of the host agencies for members of the 27th UPS Community Internship Program cohort in February. These upper managers come to San Francisco for three weeks, dropping their usual job duties and focusing on the community. Through site visits, volunteering, and unique cultural activities, they become more aware of community members' daily challenges. They even stay in Chinatown at Donaldina Cameron House to be immersed in the community. While at Edgewood for the day, they painted and decorated raised planter boxes for our campus that will be used in our garden and grounds to provide a healing environment for our youth. These leaders, some of whom supervise over 1,000 people, return to their hometowns to set a company culture that sees employees and customers as people first, always seeking increased awareness, sensitivity, and understanding.

Since 2020 my love for the summer time has grown. Why? Because 2020 was the first summer I was able to host summer interns in New York at my business Vision Street Research LLC. Our internship program is one of the ways we deliver on our commitment to #WorkforceDevelopment. Last week, A new summer intern Vision Street Research , Cle-Andre' Stewart, had the pleasure of speaking with Jonathan Prevost, MPA Senior Associate at The Pew Charitable Trusts. Throughout his discussion with Cle-Andre', Mr. Prevost spoke about several ways to promote self growth, especially on a professional level. Key advice included: 1) Always have an open ear and build relationships with those that may be more successful than you at that moment to be able to learn more about what it took for them to get to their career path. 2) Network no matter where you may be, emphasizing that you may never know who will become an important factor to your success in the future. 3) Mr. Prevost stated that as an athlete, Cle-Andre' needs to understand the importance of leveraging the competitive nature within the workplace. Thank you, Jonathan, for your time and effort in deeply educating Cle-Andre' pertaining to personal growth in and out of the workplace! #VisionStreetResearch #VSRSummerLearning#JonathanPrevost #ThePewCharitableTrusts#Growth

Meet Murphy Alum, Quinnyata Bellows from the North Shore Country Day School Class of 2015. During her time at DMSF, Quinnyata participated in Affinity Groups and held a Walgreens Corporate Internship. Today, she works as a freelance producer and costume manager. Let’s hear what advice she has to share! 💙What was DMSF’s impact on you? 💛I learned that staying connected with my community and creating connections that last a life time can benefit me more than any fleeting moments. The people I have met through Daniel Murphy have influenced me in a number of ways. So many doors have opened for me that I never thought I would have access to because of volunteers and staff that have reached out to me during and after my scholarship program. It would be an understatement to say that I have gained a number of mentors that have paved a way for someone like me to flourish in the arts and make a career out of something that was just my passion and curiosity at the time. 💙Why was receiving a good education so important to you? 💛The older I get the more impactful my education history has been for me. With every decision I make, the skills and ability to navigate through society were just basic lessons taught to me through programming and courses dedicated to ensuring my success in the past. I may not have fully understood the weight of an amazing education in my teenage years but seeing how things could have been more troubling for me now makes me all the more grateful for the opportunities I had. This ever changing appreciation for my education is what makes it so important. 💙What advice do you have for current Murphy Scholars? 💛Take advantage of everything. This seems like a simple task but I think at a young age it’s easy to look past the small details but every thing that comes your way is a potential door that can opened and explored. Whether that is introducing yourself to someone new or being the first to volunteer, there is absolutely nothing unavailable to you unless you believe it. Thank you for being an inspiration, Quinnyata! #35YearsOfMurphyScholars #AlumniThen&Now #HighSchoolScholarship #EducationAccess

When you get to work with your own daughter... Sure, I've seen my daughter Chase Carpenter in action. I've seen how her smile and positive energy can draw people in. I've watched her rally groups of young women, whether it's for pure fun and community development, or it's for a purpose-driven event, meant to move the needle. She's an organized, efficient, and magnetic leader. So you may imagine my pride getting to work alongside her this past summer at The Lola. The Lola is a vibrant, women's community space where I've been co-working for the past year and a half. I've also contributed some work to The LOLA team, helping Dana Xavier Dojnik with project management processes and content marketing; starting and co-leading a weekly accountability group with Melissa Uppelschoten, now led by superstar Qiana Avery, SHRM-CP; and co-facilitating the monthly, in-person Founders & Freelancers group with the incomparable energy-shifter Kafi London. In short, being part of The LOLA community has been my jam. When The LOLA accepted Chase as an intern last spring, I knew she'd fit right in. She understood the assignment: to help support the powerful network of inclusive, female entrepreneurs and women in business who want to build a life and career in which we are constantly growing, thriving and succeeding. It's exciting to see young women realize and embrace their own power. It makes me wish I knew what they already know when I was in my 20s! But it was a different time and we were ALL different people. :) I'm excited to keep my focus on what's ahead for all of us. Because women - young, mid-life and wise - will change the world. Established women in business and emerging female leaders: if you haven't felt it yet, lean in. And lean in HARD, because our time is NOW. #WomenInBusiness #FemaleLeadership #NextGenLeaders #MotherDaughterTeam #EmpowerWomen #WomenSupportingWomen #CommunityLeadership #FemaleEntrepreneurs #MentorshipMatters #TheLOLA #WomenWhoLead #CareerGrowth #InclusiveLeadership #YoungLeaders #WomenEmpowerment

WonderMind.com I ABSOLUTELY SEE NOTHING WRONG WITH CRYPTOCURRENCY. I CAN UNDERSTAND WHY THE INFANT DEMOCRATIC-CAPITALISTIC MINDS OF TODAY BLAME THE USA GOVERNMENT. THAT SAID THEN IS ANY GOVERNMENT TO BE BLAMED FOR THE HOMELESS PROBLEMS PLAGUING THE WORLD.?... NO. GOD KNOWS ALL THE HEADACHES USA GOVERNMENT HAVE WITH THE FOREIGN AFFAIRS. THE NEW WORLD IS PRACTICALLY A SHOCK TO WITNESS. PEOPLE "ONLY WORKING" TOGETHER FOR A COMMON GOAL... "IN THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS." THUS DOESN'T THAT ALSO INCLUDE THE HOMELESS. THE HOMELESS ARE OUT THERE... ARE YOU.? HOMELESS A OPPORTUNITY MISUNDERSTOOD..... The modern economic system is a market economy, which is a capitalist economy where people, not the government--NOT THE GOVERNMENT--own most businesses. In a capitalist economy, prices allocate capital and labor between competing uses, and capital assets like factories, mines, and railroads can be privately owned and controlled. https://lnkd.in/eB98Jnv9 GOOGLE. EXAMPLE, IF YOU NEED TO RAISE MONEY FOR ANY REASON OR MORE SO LETS SAY THE "HOMELESS" PROBLEM WHICH IS BELIEVED TO BE TIME & MONEY CONSUMING BUT IN ONE DIRECTION TOWARD THE HOMELESS. HOWEVER CRYPTOCURRENCY CAN POSSIBLE ALLOWS AN EXPENDITURE OF CURRENCY TO BENEFIT ALL WHO USES THE CRYPTO & REGARDLESS OF HOW IT'S CONSUMED. Successful Workforce Development programs takes many forms and start at a variety of career points for individuals. If you are growing, starting, expanding or enhancing your program, find out how GradLeaders can assist.
We were beyond thrilled to learn that, with GradLeaders Career Center, Goodwill Industries of North Florida was able to realize a vision of serving more youth in their career readiness journeys. "GradLeaders has provided the Mayor's Youth At Work Partnership, a Goodwill Industries of North Florida signature mission program, a sustainable and scalable way to manage internship applications and report on key data points. Prior to implementing the system we were using spreadsheets to track everything which was difficult, but seems especially unimaginable as we have now doubled our number of applications per session." ~ Marla Meredith, Lead Job Coach for MYAWP with Goodwill Industries of North Florida https://buff.ly/3qlxIpw
