💡 How can we make sure evidence meets the needs of schools, early years settings, and colleges? 🔍 Bridging evidence and practice can be challenging. For evidence to inform positive changes to teaching and learning in real life settings, it must meet practitioners’ needs. This is why we need to constantly engage with experts of practice. As a starter, we gather insights from practitioners by: - Checking the temperature in settings through termly reference groups, - Refining resources according to their feedback, and - Identifying areas of teaching that could be better supported by evidence-informed resources. 📖 We also conduct interviews and focus groups to understand, empathise with and learn from practitioners. This helps us to answer questions such as the most appropriate language for describing teaching and learning approaches, and what format evidence is best communicated through. 🤔 One area in which we’ve learned a lot from practitioners has been in their access and use of evidence-informed resources. Some people told us about how they struggle to differentiate sources according to their reliability. In response we: - Published a guide to using research evidence. - Plan to conduct a funding round that will investigate how to best support school leaders in accessing and using research evidence. 💬 We’re always looking to hear from practitioners across England! Keep an eye out for our annual sector survey that will go out in about two weeks’ time. Or express your interest via an email to SEG@eefoundation.org.uk.

This is great news! We are excited to learn that the bipartisan New Essential Education Discoveries (NEED) Act has been introduced in the Senate by Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO) and Senator John Cornyn (R-TX). If passed, the NEED Act would authorize a National Center for Advanced Development in Education (NCADE) to advance informed-risk high-reward, education R&D projects. It would support interdisciplinary teams to solve big, complex challenges in education through new research, rapid testing, and the iterative development of new tools and approaches. The NEED Act would also strengthen and modernize Statewide Longitudinal Data Systems, with good data as the backbone of good R&D. #edresearch #eddata #education

As an IT admin, putting out fires and struggling to justify the upgrades to avoid them can be a frustrating cycle. Without evidence & data, it’s hard to get support for decisions. This is why I built the MTIS survey. It gives IT teams the data to stay ahead—identify gaps before they become problems, know where resources are needed most, and back your decisions and requests to leadership with solid evidence. Insights include, benchmarking against similar schools, highlighting where resources and improvements are needed and reinforce where you're excelling. It’s free, open to all Australian schools and only takes a few minutes to get setup and send out to your teachers. Backed by CoET (within the Department of Education Victoria), with privacy assured – no school data shared or personal data collected. ✅ Tailored for Australian schools 📊 Clear, instant reports with growth and comparative data ⏳ Quick 3-min survey Survey window for all schools closes soon (Nov 8th) - Learn more and sign up here: https://lnkd.in/gspY9TJ3
