In the world of 3D printing "anything is possible", the only limitation is your imagination. I hear this sentiment from many other technologies too, but in the context of 3D printing I hear it perhaps the most. We see the landscape a bit differently when it comes to 3DTI. While others say “anything is possible”, we want our possibilities per vertical to be narrow and specific, which is why we have learned to appreciate the term “custom enough”. While we love the flexibility of our lines, we want the exact vertical customer in the right location to make a very specific thing for a particular end user for the right price and right margin. This requires some serious homework and creating the technology is just a small part of the entrepreneurial journey. I am very excited for the next “custom enough” journey in footwear.

FootPRINT 3D 2024 is open for registration! Our event in Portland last week confirmed what we already knew: the footwear industry is finally making serious strides towards reshoring footwear production, using new affordable and easily scalable methods of automated manufacturing. And what we showed in the USA was only a very small taster of what we will present this September for the second edition of FootPRINT 3D! This will be THE annual networking and innovation event that brings the entire footwear industry together with the aim to take us all to the next level: producing shoes close to market, on demand, from renewable and regenerative materials, including feasible and profitable end of life systems. We will have exhibitors from a variety of industries: software and AI, 3D printing, knitting, molding and robotics, recycling, as well as a whole new pavilion on materials, including biotech solutions.
