Recently, the Education Law Society had its August Society Meeting with an interactive session on Jamb 2024 results crisis. In addition to commonly identified reasons such as poor quality of education, social media addiction etc, members identified the lack of adequate preparation of their students for JAMB by most schools due to their failure to incorporate the JAMB curriculum into their teaching as another potential reason for the mass failure in the 2024 JAMB. To resolve this issue therefore, members recommended incorporating the JAMB curriculum into NERDC curriculum, establishing a ranking system for secondary schools with jamb results as one criteria with an effective monitoring agency and strong sanctions as possible governmental initiatives. The need for collective leadership by all persons was also recommended. In all, we recommend 📌 More robust curriculum 📌 Mandating focus on jamb preparation in secondary schools 📌 A Ranking system with an effective monitoring agency 📌 Collective Leadership The meeting ended with a quiz competition on education law with Miss AROWOLO Kehinde Abosede emerging as the winner. What do you think are the reasons for the JAMB 2024 mass failure and how can they be redressed through law and collective actions? We will love to know in the comments section! OUR EDITORIAL! The recent cancellation of the National Open University of Nigeria’s (NOUN) Law degree programme has left countless students in a state of despair. This decision, which has rendered years of hard work and significant financial investment futile, is a grave injustice. CSR Reporters, a platform dedicated to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) advocacy, strongly condemns this action and calls for immediate remedial measures to address the plight of the affected students. The crux of the issue lies in the fact that NOUN’s management was aware that a part-time Law degree was not recognized in Nigeria. Despite this knowledge, the institution continued to admit students into the programme, leading them on a path that was bound to end in disappointment. This breach of trust highlights a severe lapse in ethical conduct and transparency, fundamental principles that should underpin the operations of any educational institution. Earlier today, the Law Students' Society of Nigeria, Kwara State University chapter under the leadership of Com. Hassan Hassan Babatunde (Sophy of Law) organized a Mooting Workshop that aimed to foster the student's Academic career and was the first of its kind. The program centered on the issue of court proceedings, things necessary to be known about courts, and something of importance associated with the court proceedings and the challenges. Qudus Alalafia Esq, a legal expert in the realms of law was invited as the speaker of the event and lectured on the topic "THE PROCEDURE AND CHALLENGES ASSOCIATED WITH COURT PROCEEDINGS". I must say, he did justice to the above topic beyond expectation, he speaks on the different procedures of instituting an action in various courts and the challenges associated with it. There was a statement he made, this, I keep remembering concerning our client being the first challenges a lawyer will encounter he said "Client cases are their life, doctor them well" Qudus Alalafia Esq is someone whose legal knowledge can't be over-emphasized. We appreciate you for the time, knowledge shared and experience gathered. To all the students who attended, I believe LSS didn't fail you! Let's all come to learn again! #learningandgrowing #LawStudents #Education
