🙋♂️ 🙋♀️ Young Europeans are increasingly focused on sustainable development, particularly environmental and climate issues, according to the Eurobarometer released in May 2022. They view protecting the environment and combating climate change as top priorities for the European Year of Youth 2022.
The European Commission's proposal, published on June 16, 2022, aims to promote education for green transition and sustainable development. It provides guidelines for Member States to prioritize learning and teaching about sustainability across all education levels. Recommendations include integrating climate crisis and sustainability education into formal and non-formal settings, investing in green resources, supporting educators, creating supportive learning environments, and engaging stakeholders. 🌳
To facilitate implementation, the European Commission plans peer learning, a dedicated working group, and resource development, including an online course for teachers. This proposal is crucial for ensuring learners acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for a sustainable future in a changing job market.
