"A BETTER SCALE IN ACADEMIC SUCCESS"  Refers to a more comprehensive or effective way of measuring and evaluating a student's academic achievements. Traditional metrics like grades, test scores, and GPA have long been the standard for assessing academic success, but they may not fully capture a student's capabilities, learning process, or overall development. Interesting thought experiment by colleagues of the d.school at Stanford University. A design team worked with hundreds of students, faculty, and administrators over the course of a year to explore "undergraduate experiences in the future". One result was the "open-loop university", labeled as "an end to a society of alumni in favor of lifetime learning". They describe a model in which students apply when they are ready – some earlier, and some later than age 17. Upon enrollment, they receive six years of access to residential learning opportunities to distribute across their lives as they see fit. And no longer are they labeled as alumni - returning students come back for a mid-career loop, to take advantage of on-campus course offerings to launch new chapters of their professional lives.
