Peering through the cracks between Strategy, Futures, Design & Culture. Runs Smithery, a strategic design practice. Teaches @IED Barcelona, @RCA. Artefact Cards, Steps Collective, Cardstock. Scottish; understandably so.
Yesterday, Lizzie Shupak and I talked at the third installation of The Steps Collective. Lizzie reflected on how we orientate ourselves, practically and psychologically, through our respective regenerative practices. I explored a some of the emerging thoughts I've been exploring this year on how Participatory Futures might be 'The Punk to Foresight's Prog', and how that chimes with some of the things we tried last week at Future Days, and where these things might be further improved for future things like this. In the aftermath too, we started hatching some awesome plans about future editions of The Steps Collective - sign up here to follow along: https://lnkd.in/eNJQGYGh #regenerative #regenerativefutures #participativefutures #futures https://lnkd.in/e4YzQtRc

A colleague aka The Mindful Regenerist Natascha McIntyre Hall has often posted reflections whilst out walking her dog. I've always been impressed by her clarity, but also the fact that not once has she fallen over or lost the dog! Three good reasons why I've never tried it! But it's a new year and nothing is lost by trying something different. Today's post is about polarisation, which is prescient for me as soon we will be starting our short learning journey Beyond Polarisation. During the many Power of Place programmes we have run over the past 3 years, there are a number of questions that come up regularly. So we’ve decided this year to design a few short programmes that are either open online, or can be delivered in house, that try to address these questions, whilst still holding true to the deep knowledge that underpins regenerative design. One of those questions comes up in the Regenerative Stakeholder Engagement section of Power of Place (POP) for short has been some version of ‘but what do we do when we encounter entrenched polarisation in our engagement with stakeholders?’ If this video is less than coherent - mud, puddles, unexpected deer and almost colliding with other walkers made it less than - you can find out more tomorrow when we have an open q&a when I will be seated at my desk and hopefully more lucid! Or find out more on our website. All links below. Register for Monday 8th open q&a at 4pm UK https://lnkd.in/e_xnNntS Beyond Polarisation (website) https://lnkd.in/eYpXv_qW https://lnkd.in/eD5tX2-8

I help small and medium business owners achieve financial clarity and strategic growth so they can focus on growth, improve their business performance, and enjoy a stress-free life.
🌍✨ Exciting news for sustainability advocates! I recently came across a groundbreaking documentary titled "Outgrow the System" that's a must-watch for anyone passionate about #Sustainability, #ESG, and #CarbonAccounting. 🌱 This film dives deep into the heart of our economic system, challenging conventional wisdom and exploring innovative ways to transition to a sustainable economic model. It's not just about managing resources; it's about redefining what 'economy' truly means. #OutGrowTheSystem presents a riveting exploration of new economic perspectives that hold the key to transforming our world. From rethinking consumption patterns to embracing creative solutions, this documentary is a beacon of hope, showing that positive change is not just a dream but a tangible reality. The documentary highlights an essential message: Economics should be a conversation for everyone, not just experts. It empowers us to discuss, debate, and contribute to shaping a sustainable future. It's a call to action for all of us to become part of the movement for change.
