📣 Calling on all organisations! 📣 Today, Carers UK has released a report to encourage the Government to introduce a statutory right to paid Carer’s Leave. There is robust evidence to suggest that providing working carers with access to paid Carer’s Leave would leverage even greater benefits for carers, employers and the economy at very little cost. As a working carer, I support carer’s leave for job security from day one. This summer, I took carers leave to care for my son with complex needs. The financial strain was challenging, but the real struggle was managing work and caregiving responsibilities. Using my limited respite hours and personal funds to hire support, due to a lack of local services, has been overwhelming. Many times, I’ve questioned how to continue. Alongside paid leave, we urgently need better local services, increased social care funding, higher wages for care workers, and tax incentives for unpaid carers. Government action is crucial. Stop ignoring us! 

Paid Carers Leave has been really really appreciated by colleagues in the Royal British Legion. It's fulfilling working for an organisation that goes above the government minimum to support its staff. We can also purchase an extra week's annual leave too and have decent Flexible Working opportunities.
