🤖 How can we anticipate delays and improve passenger experience in complex railway networks? 🚊 Integrating AI into control centers leads to a revolution in network management! At Egis, we’ve developed an innovative prototype for Centralized Control Centers (CCCs). This solution uses AI models to predict delays with 95% accuracy up to 15 minutes before train arrivals. Additionally, it analyzes platform and train occupancy rates to enable proactive crowd management. 📈 The expected results include greater train punctuality, optimized use of existing infrastructure, and a significantly improved passenger experience. Presented by Sondoss CHTIOUI, Systems Engineer and expert at Egis, during the @Mobil'in Pulse exhibition (formerly ATEC ITS), this integration of artificial intelligence into network management marks a promising step forward in improving the performance and efficiency of transportation systems. 💡 A connected display leverages historical and real-time data to deliver informed decisions. This solution, based on Decision Support Systems (DSS), enables operators to better regulate traffic, adjust schedules, and reduce the environmental impact of railway networks.

𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥-𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐮𝐭𝐬 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤𝐬. The rail industry is making significant strides in enhancing safety and efficiency through technology, as highlighted in the recent article, “UK rail companies team for asset monitoring trial.” Central to this progress is robust connectivity, made possible by antennas. These devices ensure seamless data transfer between trains and ground control, enabling real-time monitoring of tracks, vegetation, and other potential hazards. By facilitating the rapid transmission of critical data, #antennas empower #AI systems to analyse information and detect issues like overhanging trees, leaves on the track, or embankment subsidence before they escalate. Given that vegetation-related incidents alone cost millions annually, this technology promises substantial cost savings in addition to improved safety. LINK: https://lnkd.in/g4he2ZTC?

Should We Disrupt a Well-Functioning System Like the SG MRT Being stationed at Tuas Crescent at the moment, we occasionally like to go to Joo Koon for lunch, and the wait times for the to-and-fro journey are typically between 10 - 15 minutes. With apps that track bus timings in Singapore, I have always wondered why the same cannot be implemented for MRT lines to help us time our departures. Upon further investigation, I identified two technological challenges for this problem. Firstly, with the complex infrastructure of the SG MRT system, including elevated and underground lines, GPS signals can be interfered with, making real-time tracking and updating of train positions very complicated and difficult. Secondly, integrating real-time tracking with existing MRT systems might require major upgrades, which can be costly and time-consuming. Although there are no solutions at the moment, I believe that if implemented correctly, certain technologies can predict these timings. 1. Improved Connectivity with 5G - Reliable Signals Underground: 5G technology offers more reliable and robust connectivity, even in challenging environments like underground MRT stations and tunnels. This means better real-time communication and tracking of trains. - Low Latency: 5G has very low latency, allowing for almost instantaneous data transmission, which is crucial for real-time tracking and updates. 2. Advanced AI Analytics - Predictive Maintenance: AI can analyze data from trains and tracks to predict maintenance needs, reducing unexpected delays and improving overall reliability. - Real-Time Data Analysis: AI can process vast amounts of real-time data to provide accurate predictions of train arrivals and departures. - Pattern Recognition: AI can recognize patterns in train operations, such as peak times and potential bottlenecks, and adjust predictions accordingly. Potential Benefits - Passenger Experience: Passengers can receive real-time updates and more accurate predictions about train arrivals, helping them plan their journeys better. - Operational Efficiency: MRT Planning and Operations can use this technology to manage train schedules more effectively, minimizing delays and optimizing the flow of trains. However, all of this requires a significant investment into a system that already works well. So, is this something you would like to see in the future? #TechDisruption #RealTimeTracking #AIAnalytics #SmartCities #SuriaRevi
