💡Great work from EFCA - European Federation of Engineering Consultancy Associations carrying important messages further! Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) is an important topic EIC is looking at in its newly created Working Group Collaborative Delivery Models (CDM), chaired by EIC Vice-President Gustavo Martínez, as more in depth collaboration between stakeholders will facilitate project management as they: 👍 🏗️ create innovations on sustainable construction, the integration for environmental & social aspects, on a project and industry-specific basis. 👍 🏗️ offer the possibilities to deal with projects that are difficult to plan and are located in a dynamically complex environment with multiple stakeholders. 👍 🏗️ involve expertise of executing companies early means the innovative elements that were not previously considered will be included. 👍 🏗️ facilitate large, complex projects that require complex project organization with multiple stakeholders. CDMs parallelize the interests of client, contractor and other stakeholders usually resulting in an overall time saving. 👍 🏗️ have shown that it is possible to improve the value of the completed project in terms of function, operation and maintainability. 👍 🏗️ make it possible to jointly arrive at better specifications (engineering and construction processes) and to react earlier to adjustments. 👍 🏗️ define the construction methodology earlier and better, resulting in fewer changes in the execution phase and improving constructability through an early design, development of technical specifications, and safer work process. 👍 🏗️ enable the development of innovative or standardized solutions and the associated time and cost optimization. 👍 🏗️ provide the opportunity for dialogue with permitting authorities by better understanding costs, schedule, equipment features, environmental and social impacts, as well as risks with their associated mitigation plans and provisions. 👍 🏗️ aim at cost certainty. Improved accuracy of the calculation is made possible by providing better and more complete information and reduces surprises. 👍 🏗️ are based on trust and transparency and therefore provide a better basis for a common understanding of pricing, possibly offering the potential to reduce the overall cost burden of the project as a team. 👍 🏗️ can stop the development of the reciprocal intensification of claim and anti-claim management that has arisen in recent years, which can be counterproductive for the success of the project and requires considerable resources. EIC is looking forward to the valuable contributions to its position paper 📃 by EFCA - European Federation of Engineering Consultancy Associations and welcoming Ines Ferguson & Jaap de Koning to its next working group CDM meeting! #cdm #collaboration #infrastructure #civilworks #procurement
🌍 Wrapping up today’s EFCA Conference on the EU Blue Deal, we had an engaging panel discussion on best practice #procurement with insights from José Manuel Vacas Muñoz, Rafael Torrente Reche, and Søren Adamsen 💧 💡 Some key takeaways from our third panel: Moderated by Jaap de Koning, our panellists highlighted the pivotal role of consulting #engineers in designing and delivering high-quality projects. They emphasised that procurement is not just a box-ticking exercise focused on the lowest price as the lowest price often is not the most economically efficient option. Instead, #Quality should be the foremost consideration. The Blue Deal presents a unique opportunity for better #cooperation with #clients and an improved procurement system. Both the Blue Deal and Green Deal require innovative #strategies and new approaches. It's time to rethink and evolve our working methods. We want to thank all of our speakers, moderators and guests for joining us for a lot of fruitful discussions on the EU Blue Deal in Madrid today! #EUBlueDeal #qualityprocurement #consultingengineers #sustainableprojects
