Violence against children is deeply intertwined with social, economic and environmental challenges. Understanding and addressing these interconnections is essential to develop plans and strategies to protect children. While these interconnected challenges may compete for funding and attention at national and global level, they also present an opportunity. The Freedom Hub - Partnering to End Modern Slavery through Business and Equipping Survivors to Rebuild through Skills Training and Employment. ✨Social Entrepreneur of the Year 2022 - Third Sector Awards
The revelation that 52% of modern slavery transpires in upper and high-income countries, as highlighted by the Global Slavery Index, is a stark reminder that affluence does not immunise societies from exploitation. This counterintuitive statistic underscores the pervasive nature of contemporary slavery, revealing its insidious presence even within affluent nations. Economic prosperity alone cannot eradicate this deeply rooted issue; a concerted global effort is imperative. SLAVERY HAPPENS HERE IN AUSTRALIA! We must collaborate to implement robust measures, fostering awareness and stringent enforcement to address this troubling reality. WHAT IS THE FREEDOM HUB DOING ABOUT IT? ✨ we have TRAINED over 300,000 people about modern slavery, raising awareness and many partnerships to fight this crime. ✨ we have been EQUIPPING victim/survivors across Australia to rebuild their life and find employment for over 10 years. ✨ we SUPPORT the SDG 8 by being on the Management Committee of the Commonwealth 8.7network. ✨ we help ACTIVATE Australia’s National Action Plan to end modern slavery by equiping large and small businesses to comply with the Modern Slavery Act AND by providing the only specialised, lifelong, wrap around care for victim/survivors in Australia. ✨ in addition to all this, we AMPLIFY survivors voices and lived experience by providing a safe platform for survivors to share their knowledge and experience with businesses and government. During times of emergencies, marginalised urban communities experience greater political neglect and are left to protect themselves and provide for each other. Resilience needs to be improved by the synchronous fulfilment of political goods. https://buff.ly/4c2LiAd #SDG10 #SDG11 #SDG16 #SustainableCities #CommunitySupport
