It's so important to address the root causes of violence.

Violence against children is deeply intertwined with social, economic and environmental challenges. Understanding and addressing these interconnections is essential to develop plans and strategies to protect children. While these interconnected challenges may compete for funding and attention at national and global level, they also present an opportunity. The revelation that 52% of modern slavery transpires in upper and high-income countries, as highlighted by the Global Slavery Index, is a stark reminder that affluence does not immunise societies from exploitation. This counterintuitive statistic underscores the pervasive nature of contemporary slavery, revealing its insidious presence even within affluent nations. Economic prosperity alone cannot eradicate this deeply rooted issue; a concerted global effort is imperative. SLAVERY HAPPENS HERE IN AUSTRALIA! We must collaborate to implement robust measures, fostering awareness and stringent enforcement to address this troubling reality.
