"My coaching style is all about helping players find growth through failure. I'm a very positive, upbeat coach who holds players accountable and helps them build up confidence in their skills and in themselves by helping them set goals and proving that if they put in the work, they can grow and succeed." A former NAIA softball player, Megan Van Allen brings her infectious, can-do attitude to everything she does, whether on the turf with athletes or behind the scenes as an HR generalist, supporting various staff support functions. We are further excited to celebrate her impending graduation from Western Governors University - way to go, Megan!

I love this quote from John Wooden, one of the most successful college basketball coaches in US history (his team won a record seven championships in a row). What I love about this quote is that it’s so well balanced. When you’re up, remember that your success won’t last forever. And when you’re down, remember that you’re not out. In both cases, you need courage to succeed and to keep going after failure. We can often think of courage as something we need to generate ourselves. If you’re struggling to find courage, perhaps to make an important decision or deal with a persistent challenge, working with a coach can help. DM me to start a conversation about where you want to be.

Does this describe you? Well…. If it does, you aren’t alone. It describes 90% of the working force in this country. Lots of people talk about wanting to get out if the “rat race.” But free ever really do, either because 1: they don’t know how and just wish someone would give them a shot. 2: they just lack the will and discipline to do it. If you are # 1, we should talk. I’m opening up 3 more personal coaching slots for Q4 If you are #2, you should probably stay where you are. 🙂

An underrated coaching (and life) trait is connection. Let me explain: One of the most famous adopters of the Predictive Index and legendary Lady Vols basketball coach Pat Summit, used PI assessments to support deeper connections. She traveled to rural Sparta, TN in 1994 to recruit Kellie Jolly—a 5’10 guard, perfectionist, and someone who needed specific instructions. So, Summitt knew enough about her (and her PI assessment) to develop an individual development plan. The plan drew on Jolly’s strengths and allowed Summitt to make a personal connection with her. To have a successful player fit into the vision, Summit needed to go above and beyond—and that meant studying players on an individual basis, rather than assuming everyone worked the same way. Connection leads to trust and we all know trust is important. It opens up so many doors within ourselves and with others. And for Kellie Jolly (now Kellie Harper), Summit’s coaching inspired her to become the coach of the Lady Vols from 2019 to 2024. Did you ever have a coach or manager who emphasized connection? Let me know in the comments. #basketball #teamwork #connection

This is one of the most challenging Dale Carnegie principles... And how easy is it to slide a complaint into a conversation? AND how much more powerful could our presence be, how much more influence might we have if we resisted the urge? #DaleCarnegie #CharlotteNC #PowerfulPresence #LeadWithInfluence

This is one of those Lessons that applies as much to club Board volunteers as it does to Senior Managers. To paraphrase Alfie Kohn, if you want quality organization, you do things with not to your colleagues. For those of you who have never read anything by Alfie Kohn, I would strongly suggest his book, "Punished by Rewards." https://lnkd.in/efJf6PBZ #leadership #mcma #ggapartners #nca #cmaa #clubmanagement #management
GGA Partners™ Colin Burns shares a great lesson learned about collaborative leadership which is a fancy way to say do with, not to.
