What a great week down at Farnborough International Airshow #FIA24 Whilst overall, aircraft orders and attendance are down, diversity (of product, and indeed people) is significantly higher. The show, and indeed wider industry are still recovering from the pandamic, but along with this comes a lot of positive change. Over the decade+ that we have been attending, the change is significant, and whilst the flying displays are certainly not what they were (and the lack of cold war jets upsets Apera-bot) the focus on the future more than makes up for this. Alongside this, ‘24s show was the first ever to allow public access to exhibition halls, helping inspire the next generation of engineers, pilots and innovators. There was a greater sense of ‘connection’ to the wider world, and we only see this as a good thing. There is a brave new world slowly commercialising, we can’t wait to see what the next decade will hold. #UnlockingHumanPotential

Function-Integrated Lightweight Concepts with Carbon, Circular Flow Economy of Advanced Materials, Renewable Carbon, Hydrogen Economy & Power-to-X
UPDATE #AIRTEC 2024 - #Future in Focus Oct 8-10, 2024 Trade Fair #Augsburg "Innovations in #aerospace often go hand in hand with issues in #safety and #defense and were fostered by overlapping technological challenges between aerospace industry and defense industry.” For Airtec, these are the reasons to expand the existing thematic canon to include ‘Defense & Security’ – as we have already reported before. The strong focus on #dual_use approaches, which also extend to areas such as #automotive and #transportation, #industrial #automation, and novel #energy concepts, makes Airtec an attractive platform for exhibitors and visitors alike. We feel honored that Andreas Hammer Head of Combat Air Systems Airbus Defence and Space (Manching) will be one of the already confirmed opening speakers. We have also already reported our delight that the Bavarian State Minister Dr. Florian Herrmann, MdL, has taken over the patronage of Airtec 2024 and will personally open Airtec on October 8, 2024. The exhibitors (as only they are allowed to appear as SELLERS in the B2B meetings) will likely meet buyers and high-ranking tech managers from the following companies at the B2B meetings: Rheinmetall, MBDA Deutschland GmbH, Boeing, Diehl Aerospace, Diehl Defence GmbH & Co. KG, Airbus Defence & Space (here also and especially ‘Defense’), Airbus Helicopters, DAHER Aerospace GmbH, Liebherr Aerospace GmbH, MT Aerospace AG, Raytheon, Rolls-Royce, Safran Electronics & Defense, Spherea GmbH, Thales, IAI, Elbit, Leonardo, TAI, MTU, Pratt & Whitney, General Atomics, and many more. What Did We Learn At EBACE 2024? The business case for exhibiting at an expensive Swiss show and extra security measures to prevent eco-activists from invading the static display like they did in 2023 dominated conversations at the European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva last week. Nevertheless, exhibitors and visitors used EBACE for what it was created for: showcasing products like Leonardo's AW09 and discussing how to solve business aviation's problems. Short-term issues ranged from airport access for business aircraft to ensuring enough pilots are in the training pipeline. Meanwhile, sustainability was the overarching longer-term matter for business aviation. In addition to conventional, albeit brand-new, business jets on the EBACE 2024 static display, futuristic vehicles and demonstrators could be seen on the Palexpo exhibit floor, such as in advanced air mobility and hydrogen-powered aircraft. https://lnkd.in/gAHR9NGS

Attention heliport operators, manufacturers of helicopters and electric vertical takeoff and landing (#eVTOL) aircraft, and aviation infrastructure specialists: we will have a forum at #haiexpo24 just for you on Monday, Feb. 26, from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm in room 201D! This forum will focus attention on some of the critical infrastructure challenges around the introduction and integration of next-generation aircraft into the National Airspace System. Industry stakeholders are invited to attend this forum that will feature key FAA personnel who are developing the regulatory structure and standards necessary to support advanced air mobility (#AAM). A key outcome of this forum will be to provide industry feedback to the FAA on the development of an infrastructure classification system driven by aircraft performance that will enable helicopters and next-generation aircraft to use the same facilities. Register for HAI HELI-EXPO 2024 at heliexpo.com; additional registration for this forum is not required. We hope to see you there! Rex J Alexander 🚁 Jonathan Daniels🤿🚁

Boeing Opts Out of Showcasing 737 MAX and 777X at Farnborough Airshow 2024 Boeing has decided not to bring its 737 MAX or 777X test aircraft to the Farnborough International Airshow 2024, scheduled from July 22-26. This decision highlights a significant absence for the aerospace giant at one of the industry’s most prestigious events. Boeing is represented by a Qatar Airways Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and a Royal Air Force (RAF) P-8 Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft. Farnborough is renowned for unveiling new innovations and securing major orders. The 2022 show alone generated over $50 billion in commitments. Ongoing Challenges for Boeing: • The 737 MAX program remains under scrutiny due to previous incidents, including a recent issue on an Alaska Airlines flight. • Concerns from victims’ families have prompted calls for increased oversight of Boeing’s safety practices. • The 777X program has faced delays in certification, affecting its service debut. • Boeing is under scrutiny by the U.S. Department of Justice for potential legal action related to a prior settlement agreement. Farnborough Airshow 2024: • The airshow remains a key event, expecting over 1,200 exhibitors from 44 countries. • Focus areas include space, defense, sustainability, innovation, future flight, and workforce development. Despite Boeing’s absence with its latest commercial aircraft models, the Farnborough International Airshow 2024 continues to be a crucial venue for showcasing aerospace technologies and fostering industry connections.

Here we go again. The bi-annual UK Farnborough Airshow, in the southern county of Hampshire, is about to begin (July 22nd-26th) with weather conditions more befitting a typical English summer than 2022, when attendees experienced extreme 40 centigrade heat (110 Fahrenheit). The 45th Farnborough is seen as one of the largest airshow events in the world, and AAM-related companies are making a more visible appearance than before as the industry continues to grow. https://lnkd.in/e8eRxX9D #FarnboroughAirshow #UKAviation #Farnborough45 #AAMCompanies #AviationTechnology #AerospaceInnovation #FarnboroughExhibition

Please look carefully at such publications… Aeroflot Group will buy whatever it is told, no matter how long the delay is going to be. First of all, till now SJ-100s have been assigned only to the fleet of member of the group Rossia Airlines. Aeroflot Airlines itself does not have such type and new ones have nothing to do with SU itself. Soon or later they will come. Secondly, Tu-214 can be produced by factory in Kazan in a quantity of 4-5 per annum - not a big deal. There will be enough other customers. But…the key moment is that this type was designed according to ancient standards - with third person in the cockpit (board engineer). For SU this is the showstopper, no matter the design bureau and the producer promised to “look at the issue” MC-21 needs to prove its operational efficiency. Maybe it will be better than its Chinese rival (and potential alternative for SU) which is already operational? Let’s see….
Russia’s Aeroflot - Russian Airlines wants to cancel orders for Superjet 100 regional jets and Tupolev Tu-214 narrowbodies due to the delays with the development of the import-free modifications on these models https://lnkd.in/dQKCnipX

I have a real soft spot for the Tent 1000 because of the time I spent with ANA. Both the Trent 7000 and the Trent 1000 have not always been in the best place when it comes to turbine blade durability but sharing a common hot section is now starting to be a benefit rather than a hindrance as we can leverage the combined experience from the two engines to develop improvements. The Trent 7000 got its first update in late 2022 and our CEO mentioned yesterday at the full year results that he was with Boeing and the FAA last week to talk about how we get that same fix into the Trent 1000 by the end of this year. But even more exciting than that, it's the fact we can now talk about the next phase of improvements which will improve time on wing by up to 30% through a combination of improvements to the hot section - combustors, guide vanes and turbine blades. This isn't the end of the story for the Trent 7000 and Trent 1000. We're, hopefully, turning the page where the story was about the pain and disruption we've caused to our customers and ourselves - and we can start talking more optimistically about what comes next!
Very happy to be here at Singapore Airshow talking to customers about the more than £1bn investment we are making on improving our Trent family of engines. Already the most successful engine family ever, we have listened to our customers and we are taking learnings from our existing technology demonstration programmes to drive durability improvements across the Trent 7000 and Trent 1000. Watch the video to learn more. #sgairshow2024 #PowerofTrent #RollsRoyce
