Fact or fiction: family businesses aren’t as successful as nonfamily businesses. I’m happy to say that this is a big fat MYTH! Family businesses often outperform their non-family-run counterparts. The Credit Suisse Family Governance White Paper even reports that US family businesses have 6.65% higher returns on assets than other businesses. If I had to guess why, I’d say it’s because family businesses have more genuine passion for what they do.
