Ramadan Mubarak! Ramadan, the holy month of fasting for Muslims worldwide, began today, March 11th, 2024. As leaders and colleagues, let's foster a supportive and inclusive environment for our Muslim team members during this important time. Here are some ways you can show your support: 1. Warm Wishes: A simple "Ramadan Mubarak" (Blessed Ramadan) goes a long way. 2. Mindful Meetings: Be mindful of scheduling late-evening meetings, especially as Ramadan progresses. 3. Understanding: Fasting can affect energy levels. Be patient and understanding if colleagues need more frequent breaks or experience slower work pace during the day. 4. Respectful Breaks: Be understanding if colleagues need short prayer breaks throughout the day. 5. Open Communication: Encourage open communication. Let colleagues know they can discuss adjustments they might need to be productive. By creating a supportive workplace, we can ensure all our team members, regardless of religion, can thrive during Ramadan and beyond. Whats are you doing to fostering inclusivity during this Ramadan? Ramadan Mubarak 🤲 📿 Embrace the Spirit of Ramadan: Discovering the Essence of Fasting and Reflection 🌙 Ramadan is more than just abstaining from food and drink; it's a sacred month of spiritual reflection, empathy, and community. Muslims around the world observe fasting from sunrise until sunset, refraining not only from physical nourishment but also from negative behaviours and thoughts. During Ramadan, we engage in increased acts of worship, including prayer, recitation of the Quran, and acts of charity. It's a time for self-discipline, gratitude, and seeking closeness to the divine. In the workplace, fasting during Ramadan can impact performance, but it also offers opportunities for growth and understanding. Employers can support their fasting employees by offering flexible schedules, understanding potential productivity fluctuations, and fostering an inclusive environment. As we honour the traditions of Ramadan, let's also recognize the invaluable contributions and resilience of our Muslim colleagues. Together, let's foster an environment of empathy, understanding, and productivity during this blessed month and beyond. #Ramadan #Inclusion#Diversity #Productivity

#OneWinWednesday: the link between understanding Ramadan and workplace inclusivity Ramadan is the commemoration by Muslims of when the Quran, their holy text, was revealed to the prophet Mohammed. This year it lasts from March 10 to April 9, 2024. During Ramadan, people of Islamic faith fast during the day and spend time reading the Quran to get closer to their god. I am a deeply faithful Christian with lots of friends of other religions. I find knowing the why behind their practices helps me to better understand them as individuals. When I don’t know something, I never hesitate to ask. Familiarity breeds trust as does demonstrating genuine curiosity by asking questions. The more we know about people who are not like ourselves, the more we can stamp out xenophobia that divides us and appreciate our differences and similarities. Now, think about this in the context of the workplace. Working to understand another person’s perspective, background, their desires, strengths, and even their opportunities (weaknesses) will help you work together in a more effective way. Makes sense, right? This is foundational for an inclusive work culture. Happy Ramadan! Ramadan Mubarak (blessed Ramadan)!

As Ramadan approaches... My family celebrates all holidays, we are multicultural. Ramadan and Eid are a part of our celebrations. - If your colleague(s) are observing Ramadan, please ask questions if you would like to learn more - always respectfully. - Everyone is different and even practicing Muslims may approach Ramadan differently. (some may fast daily, others sporadically, and some not at all) - When greeting at the beginning of Ramadan: Ramadan Mubarak (Have a blessed Ramadan) or Ramadan Kareem ( May Ramadan be generous to you) - After sunset, the breaking of the fast (iftar) takes place - friends and family are often present. - We often assume what is "normal" for us is "normal" for all - Awareness is key #interculturalcompetence #interculturalcommunication #awarenessmatters #inclusionmatters #internationalbusiness Image: https://lnkd.in/dDZmhDeP

🌙✨ Wishing You a Blessed Ramadan! ✨🌙 As we enter the holy month of Ramadan, March 10 - April 9, I want to extend my warmest wishes to all those observing this sacred time. Ramadan is a period of reflection, spiritual growth, and community for our Muslim colleagues and friends. Here are a few tips for non-Muslims, especially managers, on how to support and be inclusive of their Muslim colleagues in the workplace during Ramadan: 1️⃣ Respect fasting hours: Be mindful of your Muslim colleagues who may be fasting from dawn until sunset. Avoid scheduling meetings or events that involve food during fasting hours, and be understanding if they need to take breaks for prayers or rest. 2️⃣ Foster an inclusive environment: Take this opportunity to learn more about Ramadan and Islamic traditions. Show interest and respect for your colleagues' customs and practices. Consider organizing educational sessions or cultural events to promote understanding and inclusivity. 3️⃣ Offer flexibility: Recognize that fasting during Ramadan may impact energy levels and productivity. Offer flexibility in work schedules or deadlines to accommodate any changes in routine or energy levels. Wishing everyone a peaceful and blessed month ahead! 🌟 #RamadanMubarak #Inclusion #Diversity #Unity #WorkplaceCulture

🌙✨ Ramadan Mubarak! ✨🌙 Wishing everyone a blessed Ramadan filled with joy and spiritual growth! Ramadan is not just a Muslim celebration; it's a time for all to embrace the spirit of generosity and empathy. Here are three truths to take from this greeting: 1️⃣ Ramadan is a happy occasion for all. 2️⃣ You don't have to be Muslim to say or receive this greeting. 3️⃣ It's a time of great blessings and generosity, both physically and spiritually. As we embark on this holy month, let's foster intercultural fluency in our professional spaces with these eight key points: 1️⃣ Acknowledge Ramadan with "Ramadan Mubarak" and welcome the cultural shift. 2️⃣ Understand fasting mindfully and avoid shock or awe reactions. 3️⃣ Remember, Ramadan is not a diet; it's a deep spiritual practice. 4️⃣ No need to hide food or feel sorry; inclusivity and understanding are key. 5️⃣ Recognize the diversity within the Muslim community; each person's Ramadan experience is unique. 6️⃣ Respect privacy and refrain from interrogating colleagues about fasting. 7️⃣ Offer flexibility and accommodations in the workplace without assumptions. 8️⃣ Solidarity fasting can build community if approached respectfully. Personally, Ramadan offers me not only physical challenges but also profound spiritual growth. I cherish the perspective gained and the opportunity to give back to those in need. Let's embrace this month with warmth, empathy, and love. Ramadan Kareem to all! 🌙💫 #Ramadan #Inclusivity #Empathy #RamadanKareem
