Imagine you're building a house. You could #hire someone with loads of #experience in construction, but if they're lazy or don't put in the effort, your house might not turn out so great. On the other hand, if you hire someone with a strong #work ethic, even if they're new to construction, they'll give it their all to get the job done right. That's the key difference between experience and work ethic. Having a strong work ethic means you're dependable, #motivated, and willing to put in the effort to do a good job, no matter what. It's like having a personal drive to do your best at work. Someone with a strong work ethic doesn't just clock in and out—they go above and beyond, taking pride in their work and striving for excellence. They're the ones who show up early, stay late if needed, and always give 100%. In the end, a strong work ethic can often outweigh experience because it speaks to a person's character and dedication. You can teach someone the skills they need for a job, but you can't teach them how to have a #strong work #ethic. So, when you're looking for the perfect candidate, focus on finding someone who's #eager to roll up their sleeves and get the job done, rather than just someone who's been around the block a few times. Welcome your new team member with a phone call or email after they sign the offer letter- Don't wait for their first day! 2.) Be present on their first day- Greet them, show them around & introduce them to others 3.) Have a designated work space that is prepared ahead of time 4.) Set realistic goals & clearly discuss-Assign a mentor in the owner's absence to be the 'go to' person 5.) Share the direction of the company and communicate often. As a recruiter in the construction sales industry, I’m always on the lookout for top talent who can build strong foundations—both literally and figuratively. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just getting your boots dirty, my goal is to connect you with opportunities that help you construct the career of your dreams. But hey, who says we can’t have a little fun along the way? Here’s a little joke to brighten your day: Why did the construction worker break up with the cement mixer? Because it was just too concrete! 🧱😅 On a serious note, if you’re in the market for a new role or just want to chat about the latest trends in construction sales, feel free to connect. I’m always here to help—and maybe share a few more jokes! #ConstructionSales #Recruiting #CareerBuilding #WorkWithHumor

Vice President, WW Sales & Channels | I build sales and channel partnership teams at global scale and am sharing everything I learn along the way
So leaving tech after a great start to your career because the earning potential of a small business seems appealing? Question: have you thought about hiring for that “boring business” after you negotiated seller financing? People make or break a business - It’s better to focus on them as opposed to a low EBITDA multiple… Yes, the owner of a local plumbing biz is retiring and you can buy the business but, if you are not a plumber or you don’t want to spend all day plumbing… you’ll need to attract and hire top plumbers. For the landscaping biz, do you want to mow lawns 7 days per week? Even in the summer heat… Cookie franchise with part time college workers? How do summers work or spring break when they want to go home to visit family… HVAC, Laundromat, all very similar… Don’t underestimate the importance of being able to attract and retain top talent no matter what business you are in! I’m not saying to not buy a business, but I’d ask you to think twice about giving up a great career in tech. Maybe you are on a team with a bad manager and finding a better company would relight your fire! #boringbusinesses #peopleleadership
