“I put the anchovies in the pan and they started dancing ..…” ( From a song written for anchovy) Evliyâ Çelebi, one of the most important travellers who lived throughout history, is an important person not only for Turks but also for the whole world. Selected by the Council of Europe as "one of the 20 most important people shaping humanity in the 21st century", Evliyâ Çelebi's work has been included in the UNESCO Memory of the World List and is among the 100 Essential Works and is a giant work far beyond a travel book. This work, written in a fluent narrative, contains not only the events that took place, but also a lot of information in cultural, historical, economic and gastronomic terms. It tells unique information about the nutritional cultures of the 17th century Ottoman world and its neighbours. In this study, we will witness the social, cultural, artistic, archaeological, agricultural and economic information of the regions visited by Evliyâ Çelebi during his 50 years of travel, as well as the vast gastronomic information he gave about food cultures and foodstuffs. https://lnkd.in/dN2pPcSB

"Piedmont is an Italian region that’s relatively off the radar – except for the gastronomes and oenophiles, for whom it’s hallowed territory." The mass has no cultural means to understand Piedmont. The mass comes to Piedmont, with the Italian kitsch in their mind then they discover that Turin was the capital of Savoy and get confused. If you travel to Italy thinking that this is a big Don Corleone country, not only you miss its best, but you will never understand its multi-faceted cultural context. The Italian State is the legal continuation of the County of Savoy, Duchy of Savoy, Kingdom of Sardinia and Kingdom of Italy, for finally arriving to our beloved Italian Republic. Count more than 1000 years. I am happy that we are a State that in its north, center, south, east and west can offer so much, respecting all its cultural minorities. The goal for Italy should not be nationalism: it should be universalism, starting from its so many different grape varieties and its leading position in what concerns Geographical Indications, for example. GIs are IPRs protecting also the heritage of a product. We need people with culture visiting us, respecting us and not mocking us. If you want to know more about Piedmont, just ask me. #respect https://lnkd.in/d7gsxZgv

The process of salt production at the Salinas is fascinating to observe, and a strong element of Ibiza´s cultural identity. The salt pans are filled with seawater, which is then left to evaporate in the sun. As the water evaporates, it leaves behind salt crystals, which are then harvested by hand. The salt is often still produced using traditional methods, part of a long-standing tradition that goes back generations. #joebuckle #ibiza2024 #formentera2024 #realestate #ibizarealestate #villarentalibiza #ibizaproperty #ibizalifestyle #ibizarealestate #luxuryvillaibiza #ibizastyle #ibizaexpert #ibizaconsultant #formentera #ibiza

💰 The History and Evolution of Tipping 💰 Tipping originated in 17th-century England as a way to reward servants for good service. By the mid-19th century, it had spread to the United States, becoming a common practice in restaurants and hotels. Initially, tipping was seen as a bonus for exceptional service, but over time, it has become an expected part of many service industries. Today, tipping practices vary globally. In the U.S., it's customary to tip 15-20% at restaurants, while in countries like Japan, tipping is often considered rude. The evolution of tipping reflects cultural norms and economic changes, highlighting the diverse ways societies value service. How do you think tipping will continue to evolve in the future?
