🤔 Celebrating diversity is about more than just ticking boxes—it's about recognizing the unique perspectives and talents that individuals bring to any role. Referring to an accomplished woman of color, like Vice President Harris, as merely a "DEI hire" is not just unkind; it perpetuates harmful stereotypes. Vice President Harris was chosen for her extensive experience, including her roles as a prosecutor and senator, and her lived experiences as a Black and Asian woman. Her diverse background enriches decision-making and reflects the true fabric of America. 🌟 As business leaders, we must embrace diversity, not as a checkbox or an affirmative action program, but as a core value that enhances our organizations. By valuing diverse perspectives, we ensure that our teams are not only more inclusive but also more innovative and resilient. 💡 Diversity isn't just the right thing to do—it's a strategic imperative that helps us identify the best talent and drive organizational success. 🤩 A massive thanks to Jillian Fergusson, Yvonne Crabbe & Rupa Mooker and all attendees at our Inclusion, Equity and Diversity panel discussion yesterday. Rupa summed up some key points from the session brilliantly. (We'd expect nothing less from a top notch lawyer and I,E,D powerhouse😉) 1️⃣ Giving access isn’t inclusion; 2️⃣ Awareness without action doesn’t mean anything; 3️⃣ “different from” doesn’t mean “less than” 4️⃣ Listen & learn 5️⃣ What leaders DO is much more important than what leaders SAY. We should try and lead with inclusion and diversity will naturally follow. Many of my friends, peers, and partners (which in most cases are one in the same) have reached out since I joined Linkage, a SHRM Company and asked me a very honest question, "What is Linkage?" "What do you do?" My response has been, "I am still learning, of course, but most people agree that companies who invest in their most valuable assets, their employees, experience a multitude of tangible benefits such as increased profitability, lower turnover, employee referrals, healthy work culture, lower insurance costs, and the list goes on and on. We help employees in an organization by equipping their leaders." I am still learning all the many ways we are helping both domestic and international organizations achieve greater heights by focusing on underrepresented leader groups within their orgs, and as I do, I will share! Diversity is more than simply checking boxes to increase representation of the underrepresented. Increasing diversity is only the first step in a protracted path toward deeply understanding differences and creating equitable opportunities for everyone to grow and contribute to meaningful collaboration within the company. To many Companies simply check the box so they look like they are doing there part. What does the Leadership look like that run the companies you work for. I see too many people that are HIGHLY qualified to have positions of Management or a Seat at the table that still don't get the opportunity. So I challenge Companies to quit just checking the Box.

This change is driven by investor expectations, talent strategy, customer insights, and policy developments. For ongoing results, it's crucial to expand diverse networks, engage recruiters, consider aptitude over experience, and explore new director resources.
