In France, the number of people from the Chinese market increased by 43 percent year-on-year in July and August. Since the Paris Olympics, France has launched different MICE resources, such as the launch of a customized website for MICE events. According to the French Tourism Development Agency, MICE groups will account for about 20% of the total number of visitors from the Chinese market to France in 2023. These teams come from various provinces and regions in China, among which Guangdong province is the largest, with the largest number of about 500 people. Paris hotel prices for the Olympics have dropped 41% since last fall, indicating the event hasn't driven the expected tourist surge. Similarweb Digital Data reveals a year-over-year decline in Paris hotel bookings from the top 10 tourist countries, except for the US. Why? Perhaps because you can better enjoy the wine, croissants, the Louvre, and the overall ambiance without the heavy security and increased prices of the Olympics. Meanwhile, smaller countries like Serbia and Croatia saw a huge spike in tourism to the French capital, possibly due to popular athletes representing them in the games and general love for sports.
