Macau-Indonesia-Malaysia: Where Next in ASEAN? Macau has stepped up its drive to attract South East Asian tourists by inaugurating its first direct flight service with Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysian capital. As you may (or may not!) remember, re:set strategies' Gary Bowerman was at Jakarta's Soekerno-Hatta International Airport last November when Air Macau launched its first direct Indonesia route (see here: https://lnkd.in/gYYrG9WJ). The Macao Government Tourism Office plans step up its promotions (and air connectivity) to attract more tourists from South East Asian markets. This forms part of a drive to attract 3 million international arrivals in 2024 (doubling the 1.45 million in 2023), and begin to reduce Macau's reliance on Mainland Chinese visitors. Macau: Your New Gateway to China and SE Asia ✈️ Macau's latest move to connect with Kuala Lumpur is strategically linking it to countries that have visa-free access to Mainland China. Adjacent to Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Zhuhai, Macau is emerging as a key entry point to mainland destinations and beyond. As I recently experienced, Macau's overland border crossing with Zhuhai is incredibly efficient, complementing the new visa-free policies. This development further positions Macau as a pivotal hub in the region's travel network. Vietnam's Hospitality Potential: A Look into 2024🇻🇳 Entering 2024, Vietnam's tourism industry is on an upward trajectory. 2023 saw Vietnam exceeded its foreign tourist target, welcoming 12.6 million visitors, a 200% increase from 2022. Mr. David Cumming, our Regional General Manager for Vietnam, Cambodia, and Myanmar, shares that this upturn signals a promising outlook for the industry in 2024, as it indicates confidence continues to return and interest remains from global travelers in Vietnam as a destination. Furthermore, recent policy changes such as the extension of visa validity to 90 days provide leisure and business travelers with greater flexibility and ease in planning their trips to Vietnam, boosting tourism activity. Domestically, the hospitality industry is also expected to grow, fueled by the rapid rising of domestic travel within Vietnam, driven by a burgeoning middle class's enthusiasm for travel and work-life balance. Additionally, Mr. David highlights the growing demand for MICE business in 2024, as companies return to pre-pandemic ways of holding more Conferences, Incentives and Events. Vietnam must be ready to take advantage of this as regional competition for this market is extremely competitive. In response, Ascott is developing tailor-made MICE programs for our properties equipped with MICE facilities, which will give us a niche in this specialized market and will be a showcase for how we run events. In summary, Vietnam's hospitality industry is primed for expansion in 2024. Let us seize the opportunities ahead, especially as we celebrate 30-year anniversary at Ascott Vietnam! 🚀 #TheAscottLimited #AscottVietnam #VietnamsHospitality

Founder and CEO at FLY BAGNA | Entrepreneur | Aviation Nerd | Travelled 20+ Countries | Curating luxe getaways and bespoke experiences while globetrotting one country at a time.
Why I Urge My Team to Attend Travel Expos and Recommend Them to Anyone New to the Industry. In 2019, about a year into starting Fly Bagna, I had the opportunity to attend ITB Asia in Singapore. These are some key takeaways on why ITB was a game-changer for me and it’s one that everyone must attend: Global Connections - The event brought together tourism boards and industry professionals all under one roof, allowing me to connect with contacts from popular tourist destinations and remote countries that were not popular in the Indian market at the time. Navigating Barriers - Learning to navigate language and cultural barriers and gaining firsthand knowledge about destinations and local operations, which is often hard to find and understand while figuring out logistics from one end of the world. Product Insights - Observing what makes a successful and popular travel product and identifying market disruptors helped me gain a clear understanding of market trends not just in India but across the globe. Direct Networking - Establishing connections with hoteliers and Destination Management Companies (DMC) that would offer direct access to direct on-ground information which was one of the most invaluable experiences and has to date helped in enhancing efficiency in business in the following countries. Industry Knowledge - Engaging with industry leaders and speakers expanded my knowledge beyond basic research, understanding costs, cultural nuances and destinations more specifically. Attending the ITB Asia event was a great experience as well as a learning curve. The insights and connections gained continue to be assets as we at Fly Bagna strive to deliver exceptional travel solutions. #TravelExpos #TravelIndustry #Networking #GlobalConnections #MarketTrends #ITBAsia #IndustryKnowledge #TravelBusiness #TravelTourism
