Conventional nutrition works with “templates”. It matches a certain diet approach with a certain health condition or goal, such as diabetes or weight loss. Why this may work in the short run is because any shift into a healthier diet and lifestyle is going to result in better health markers, a reduction in symptoms and an overall improved sense of wellbeing. Here’s the thing though: I’m not a fan of templates. People don’t fit into defined molds. Every single client I work with is an entirely unique product of their environment, their life history, health history, choices, habits, likes and dislikes, genetics. To do my job well, I must take all of that into account and tailor-make the approach. I want my clients to not just feel good, but to feel great. A lot of people get into these different diets not really knowing about them. Keto is one that a lot of people try yet isn't really a diet you should stay on long term.
