    Innovations for the Environment is a successful program run by our education team here at ASU BIOS and is an award-winning capstone technology training opportunity for students between the ages of 14–17.    The robotics program sets out a goal of designing and deploying a light sensor up to 80 meters underwater. To achieve this, students participate in workshops tailored around ROV (remotely operated vehicle) design and competition, circuits and soldering, waterproofing with hydrophones, coding microcontrollers and light sensors, simulations, and CAP modeling/3D printing! 🥼🛠️✏️   Students are faced with obstacles they must work to overcome including currents, pressure, and buoyancy which are all factored into the ROV designs. Toward the end of the week-long program, students test out and deploy their light sensors from a research vessel, along with partaking in a pool-based deep-sea ROV competition! 💡🤖🎓   This year’s Innovations for the Environment program took place in July.
