Folks regularly commuting to and from ships at anchorage can now look forward to quieter rides, thanks to the electric passenger boat from Pyxis. "MPA congratulated Pyxis on its social media, noting that X Tron is the first in a series of electric port passenger vessels made by Pyxis. It also said that the battery-powered vessel has a range of up to 50 nautical miles and will operate out of Marina South Pier. In January 2024, MPA selected Pyxis Energy, Pyxis Maritime and SP Mobility partnership, as well as Seatrium O&G (International) and Yinson Electric for their vessel charging concepts to be piloted in Singapore. This decision followed MPA’s global call for proposals to establish, operate and maintain electric harbor craft (e-HC) charging points in Singapore." An additional benefit of an electric harbor craft would be that additional insulation will not be required to combat noise, vibration and harshness from the propulsion. This reduces construction and maintenance costs further as well as the overall mass of the vessel. It will also result in the crews feeling less fatigued at the end of the shift due to the aforementioned benefit as well as less checks of the machinery. On a side note, there is a new vessel to spot at MSP now! How can ports worldwide encourage such adoption? Feel free to comment below. #sustainableshipping #ev #decarbonisation #seafarerempowerment

More rapid, decisive clean tech innovation courtesy of China: CATL expects its batteries to power electric aircraft with up to 3,000 km range by 2027-2028, using ultra-high density "condensed batteries" Watch the most important transition the aviation industry has ever seen happen faster than we think: cost savings are enormous - with fuel costs savings alone at about 75% Because of massive fossil fuel subsidies; terrible regulation; enormous lobbying by Big Oil and collusion with Big Oil by aircraft and engine manufacturers and airlines, we've lost 40 years of innovation that could have delivered a far greener, global shipping and aviation industry by now CATL and China's all-in and expansive green tech strategy are now on the case: CATL only set up its aviation unit last summer, and they're already ahead of Boeing and Airbus. Simply amazing.

Norway Launches World's First Wireless Charging Road for Electric Vehicles In a groundbreaking move, Norway has introduced the world's first wireless charging road for electric vehicles (EVs), developed by Israeli hi-tech company Electreon Wireless. This innovative pilot program aims to charge EVs while they are in motion, potentially revolutionizing the future of transportation by allowing buses to operate continuously without the need to stop for charging, thereby significantly reducing carbon emissions. The pilot project features a 100-meter segment of road in Trondheim, equipped with specialized copper coils embedded just below the surface. These coils wirelessly transfer energy to EVs as they drive over them. Over the next year, the effectiveness and resilience of this technology will be tested using three electric buses from Chinese manufacturer Yutong and a fourth from another Chinese company, Higher. These tests will also evaluate the system's performance in Trondheim's harsh winter conditions. Funded by the Norwegian government, the project has a total estimated cost of 22.4 million Norwegian kroner (approximately 2.12 million US dollars). If successful, this initiative could pave the way for a new era of sustainable urban mobility, reducing the need for extensive charging infrastructure and minimizing the environmental impact of public transportation. . . #WirelessChargingRoad #ElectricVehicles #EVInnovation #GreenTransportation #ev #news #charging #wireless #electron

As Europe moves towards the #decarbonization of transport, electric vehicles are becoming a key player in the future of sustainable mobility. I'm thrilled to see this progress, especially in Italy, where we've seen a 44.1% increase in public electric vehicle charging points since last year, reaching a total of 47,228 by September 2023. This growth, highlighted in the latest Motus-E report, is a testament to our collective commitment to a greener future. At #Gewiss, we are proud to contribute to this momentum. For businesses, switching to electric fleets can lead to significant cost savings—up to 261 million euros over seven years for European fleets, according to recent studies. Moreover, electric vehicles offer a more stable budget for companies, as the cost of electricity is more predictable compared to fluctuating fuel prices. This stability, combined with reduced CO2 emissions and lower insurance costs, makes electric mobility not just an environmentally sound choice, but a financially savvy one as well. We’re excited about the future of electric mobility and the role we play in it. Together, we can drive towards a more sustainable and economically beneficial future.
