#Leaders who inspired me: 1️⃣ They were women 2️⃣ They said "The patients are expecting this from us" 3️⃣ They empowered me in a very transparent environment 😍
As my 10-year experience at Novartis is coming to an end, I am having a retrospective look into my wonderful experience. I thought of all the leaders who inspired me and found out the importance of providing a #why, feeling of #belonging, #transparency, and #empowerment.
I met Sharareh H when I was looking for a network in the company to start building a patient-friendly digital platform for clinical trials. Sharareh invited me to volunteer as a #PatientEngagement champion. Together we realized a project to deliver an individual summary of the clinical trial journey of the patients at the end of their clinical trial participation. I was amazed at how Sharareh could create a small army of volunteers to work for the patients, simply by motivating them.
I had the chance to work on the concept of a patient-centric digital platform with Dr. Ambily Banerjee, who was leading the #diversityequityandinclusion efforts in clinical trials. With partners from other companies, we managed to convince Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) to publish a call on the topic: https://lnkd.in/ejDNBRkm
Lastly, I had the chance to work with Carrie BenSaid on bringing #agility to the clinical trial teams of Novartis. Carrie's relentless passion for convincing all the leaders in the organization was a great inspiration for me.
Thinking of the inspirational women leaders I had the chance to work with outside Novartis, two names come to my mind:
Priska Burkard is doing amazing work to bring women in tech industry forward. Maya Zlatanova is a role model CEO delivering a solution for patients after discovering the lack of a patient-friendly platform in her personal experience.
I have learned so much from each of them, for which I am very grateful.

Throughout history, women have continuously proven their prowess in innovation and creativity, breaking barriers and reshaping industries with their groundbreaking inventions.
From household essentials to cutting-edge technologies, their contributions have left an indelible mark on society.
From the pioneering work of Hedy Lamarr in developing frequency hopping spread spectrum technology, a precursor to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, to the revolutionary medical advancements by Dr. Patricia Bath with the invention of the Laserphaco Probe for cataract treatment, women have consistently demonstrated their ability to think outside the box and drive progress forward.
But it doesn't stop there. Women inventors have enriched our lives in countless ways, from everyday conveniences like the dishwasher (thanks to Josephine Cochran) to life-saving innovations such as the fire escape by Anna Connelly.
Their ingenuity knows no bounds, and their diverse perspectives bring forth solutions that cater to the needs of all.
As we celebrate Women's History Month, let's recognize and amplify the voices of these remarkable innovators, and continue to champion diversity and inclusion in the realm of invention.
