When you work with many people each day, being a member of the hospitality industry can face its share of stress and difficult days. That being said, prioritizing "hotel wellness" is something that those in hotel leadership should implement for the sake of their teams. Promote caring for one's health as well as providing adequate breaks, and establishing a sense of care for your teams in your workplace. #HospitalityIndustry #HotelLeadership

DAY 1 (21-Mar), SESSION 2 Briefing: Off the Grid We have long talked about ecological and environmental concerns, but when many of our products are over-packaged or still packed in plastic is it viable to move to off-grid operations with ‘free’ energy from solar panels and ‘free’ water from atmospheric water generators? In a pre-pandemic world, the spa and wellness industry had access to a broad range of therapists from the young and inexperienced to the older more skilled team members. I help hospitality leaders create wellness assets through my proven 7-step ESSENCE framework | #1 Best-selling author of The Wellness Asset | Wellness Business Coach
I, too, have been where you are. I, too, have felt sheer and utter frustration when I didn't get wellness right. I, too, have lived those golden moments when I've been part of a hotel team where wellness rocked. And I, too, have come up, close and personal with that River of Misery - when no matter what I did, wellness never worked. I know how it feels to THINK that the entire hotel is against wellness. It was not too long ago when I thought having the grandest facilities, state-of-the-art gym equipment, the best brands and truly brilliant talent was all I needed to make wellness successful. 👉🏼 I learned the hard way that that simply wasn’t the case. I’ve been part of projects where tens of thousands were spent in market studies, training, creating flashy concepts and attracting top brands. But these projects bled money. And I’ve felt despair at the missed opportunity. I’ve also been part of very simple projects done on a shoe-string budget with ordinary but incredibly keen talent. These projects thrived. And I felt sheer joy seeing the amazing success they enjoyed. 💡 Key learning: You must get the wellness concept right from the get go. Otherwise you’re just fighting one losing battle after the next. And the ride on that emotional roller coaster gets tiring after a while. Question: 👉🏼 Can you confidently say that you know exactly how to craft the right wellness concept for your particular property? #wellness #hotels #wellnessinhospitality

Susie Arnett is the Director of Wellness Programming at Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas and today shares the opportunities she sees: https://lnkd.in/gVMACD4f A few takeaways: 1) Embrace Wellness Beyond the Spa: Consider how your hospitality business can offer wellness experiences beyond traditional spa services. 2) Have The Courage to Think Differently: Don't get trapped in traditional hospitality thinking. Be open to new ideas and approaches that can disrupt the industry and create more meaningful guest experiences. 3) "Program The Day": Develop programming that matches the energy and opportunities of different times of day, from morning yoga to evening events that don't necessarily involve alcohol but still offer a sense of celebration and community. 4) Utilize Space as a Platform for Connection: Think about how the design and layout of your building and property can facilitate guest connections. This could mean creating spaces conducive to group activities or providing prompts that encourage guests to engage with each other. 5) Incentivize Positive Guest Behavior: Explore ways to incentivize behaviors that align with your brand values, such as kindness, sustainability, or wellness. This could be through rewards, recognition, or creating roles like "kindness captains" to promote a positive atmosphere. 6) Offer Accessible Wellness Options: Make wellness accessible to all guests, regardless of their budget. This can include simple offerings like encouraging movement, providing healthy food options, and creating spaces for guests to enjoy sunlight. 7) Stay Informed and Inspired: Keep learning from other industries and stay open to innovative ideas that can be adapted to the hospitality context. This will help you stay ahead of trends and meet guests' evolving expectations. 🎧 Listen to Susie talk more about all of this today on the Hospitality Daily Podcast on Spotify or Apple Podcasts -- If you enjoyed this... 1) Leave a comment below on what stood out to you from this 2) Share this with your network 3) Follow Hospitality Daily here on LinkedIn so you don't miss more stories like this Thanks! - Josiah

What does wellness mean to you? 🌿 To me it is a combination of self-care, practicing healthy habits, being content and happy and taking actions towards better physical and mental outcomes that ensure you are thriving. Increasingly events are including a variety of ways that attendees as well as organisers can partake in wellness activities because it is so important to have a balance between work and leisure as it can lead to higher levels of productivity, engagement and focus - all key ingredients to the success of an event! A programme that includes wellness and wellbeing elements can boost energy, produce endorphins and generally create a positive atmosphere for all. In Copenhagen, there are a myriad of ways one can incorporate wellness into their event programme and/or as part of bleisure extension after the event. 🏊🏼♀️Water based activities are not just limited to warmer months - you can go hot tubbing, do sauna sessions, practice nordic bathing and go hydro-biking just to name a few! 🧘♀️Indulge in self-care in the beautiful spas and wellness areas available in many of the city centre hotels including THAT Bali-inspired pool at Guldsmeden Hotels gem, Manon Les Suites which is one of the most instagrammed pools in the world! 🌊And just outside the city, you can find some of the most beautiful Danish beaches for example at Marienlyst Strandhotel in Elsinore and Helenekilde Badehotel in Tisvildeleje. 🤸And if you want to get active and attendees moving, get them on bicycles around the city, kayaking in the harbour, hiking up and skiing down an energy plant, arrange running tours through the beautiful parks, lakes or harbourside and playing beach volleyball for example. 🥗Plus a big element of wellness is healthy food and drinks for all meals and here you can work with the venues, restaurants and hotels to incorporate delicious sustainable options for your event catering with a strong focus on locally sourced, seasonal ingredients all year round! Having been voted the happiest city in the world numerous times and being the founders of ‘hygge’ (which literally means wellbeing and comfort in Danish), Copenhagen definitely knows a thing or two about wellness making this a guaranteed happy attendees event destination! 😃 Get in touch with the fantastic team at the Copenhagen Convention Bureau to get started on planning happy events full of wellness and wellbeing. #copenhagen #meetcopenhagen #eventdestination #wellness #wellbeing #events
