Today's DHS press conference and related public service video message provided the perfect answer: Disasters of all kinds can happen anywhere, anytime -- the more you travel, the more you want to be prepared. We need to prepare the public as well as industry leaders to be able to deliver to whole-community and all-hazards preparedness. Excited to share that Joel M. Billings, assistant professor in our Department of Emergency, Disaster and Global Security Studies as well as chair of our online B.S. in Emergency Services (https://lnkd.in/em-FesBT) has recently presented groundbreaking research at the Fire Station Design Symposium, hosted by the Fire Industry Education Resource Organization. His talk, titled "Do You Feel the Shock? The Science of Alerting Systems," explored innovative approaches to designing fire stations to enhance sleep quality and reduce cardio strain among firefighters. Joel's insights are paving the way for smarter alerting systems that significantly improve firefighter health and safety.
