To all the #HR managers and companies who are #hiring for their #creative/#digital departments; please note that #Videographers, #VideoEditors, reel makers, #animators, #photo editors, #GraphicDesigners, #WebDevelopers, #SocialMedia managers, #ContentWriters are all different things and one person cannot do multiple jobs as you want.
I'm addressing this concern after encountering numerous job postings requiring expertise in multiple skills. While individuals may possess various skills, they cannot excel in all areas. Specialization yields better outcomes. Therefore, please refrain from posting "cum" positions (e.g., video editor & animator cum graphic designer) solely for cost-saving purposes. This compromises desired outcomes.
For your information, I'll differentiate each skill in easy words:
1. Videographer & Photographer: Capture content with a camera ; no editing involved.
2. Junior Video Editor: Works on software like Filmora, Movavi, CyberLink, etc.
3. Senior Video Editor: Proficient in #Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro (FCP), Avid.
4. Reel Makers: Uses apps like VN or CapCut.
5. VFX Artists: Work with Adobe After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, BlackMagic Fusion, etc.
6. 2D Animators: Use Adobe Animate, Moho, Blender, etc.
7. 3D Animators: Employ Autodesk Maya, 3DS Max, Houdini, Unity, etc.
8. Graphic Designers: Work on Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, CorelDraw, Canva.
9. DTP Operators: Use Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, CorelDraw, QuarkXpress, etc.
10. Photo Editors: Work on Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, PS Elements.
11. Sound Designers/Audio Technicians: Use Adobe Audition, Sound Forge, FL Studio, Nuendo, Audacity, etc.
12. Web Designers/Developers: Create websites using platforms like WordPress or programming languages like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, etc.
13. Content Writers: Responsible for writing blogs, post copy, captions, descriptions, web content, newsletters, etc.
14. Social Media Managers/Executives: Post and/or schedule content online, track performance using Meta business, Google Analytics & Adsense.
In a digital media department, various job roles exist, but one person cannot manage them all. Learning software requires time and effort, leading to specialization in specific areas. For instance, individuals typically focus on either video editing or graphic design during training. Expecting proficiency in multiple areas like video editing, animation, graphic design, and web development simultaneously is unrealistic and unjustifiable.
An artist may possess diverse skills, but a company shouldn't exploit them. Such practices can impair the company's performance. Individuals excel when allowed to focus on their expertise, rather than being forced into multitasking roles. #Multitasking should involve managing multiple tasks within the same skillset, not across different skill domains like video editing, graphics, animation, and web development.
We get confused about what this company actually wants while applying. Just think about it!
Congratulations!!
