College admission tours are for demonstrated interest, why should we use TouredIt? This is one of the most important questions we get asked often, and to put it simply, our tours are also able to offer demonstrated interest for each school! With TouredIt we offer 1-on-1 in person personalized college tours, many of which either start or end at the admissions office. By letting admissions know before or after the tour, demonstrated interest is applied to the client. Beyond demonstrated interest, there are many other benefits of 1-on-1 connecting and touring with a college student. Pre-college students get a leg up socially and academically, even before they reach campus as a freshman. Considering joining a Summer School at the end of year 12 or AS year, before proceeding to the final year 13 or college A2 and before joining the university gives you a number of benefits. You get to experience briefly living at the university hall of residence/accommodation, attend lectures at your desired degree course department, you get some more insights about the degree course that you aspires to pursue, e.t.c. Check whether the university offers Summer School online course or you have to attend the university physically. Although I have mainly covered on the United Kingdom Summer Schools, other European countries do offer Summer School in preparation into joining the university. Again, check any other universities across the world and see what they do offer in preparation to the same or equivalence to the Summer School. At LEAP yesterday, Daniel Kaplan, Brian Bradford, and I discussed whether DEI efforts are still legal after the Students for Fair Admissions cases last summer: 1️⃣ Yes, you can still have DEI efforts as an employer 2️⃣ BUT, these efforts cannot discriminate based on a protected characteristic 3️⃣ So consider whether your programs comply with laws like Title VII ✔ Aim for inclusive programs: anyone interested in diversity can participate ✔ Improve/expand your pool of applicants for greater diversity in hiring ✔ Focus on your work environment to be an employer of choice ✔ Ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity for success

Today, I had the pleasure of presenting to future Directors of Estates in the university sector at the AUDE_news Summer School, focusing on the financial health of higher education institutions, and what reduced budgets will mean for Directors of Estates. The UK higher education sector generated a remarkable £46.9 billion in income during the 2021-22 academic year, yet faced a challenging deficit, leading to a total expenditure of £50.9 billion. Despite these hurdles, the sector remains a vital economic driver, contributing over £130 billion to the economy and providing talented graduates to fill 768,000 jobs over 2021-22. Strategic estate management is now more crucial than ever to ensure the sustainability of our universities. By effectively managing and prioritising our resources we can continue to provide good value to students and campus communities. Ultimately, strong estate management practices will help build more resilient institutions that can better withstand financial challenges. And when it comes to tightening purse strings, let's hope those allocating our budgets remember that well-maintained campuses are worth every penny!
