Exciting News: Google’s Chromebook Production Initiative in Pakistan Google announced a groundbreaking initiative to produce 500,000 Chromebooks in Pakistan by 2026. The first device was ceremoniously presented to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad by Scott Beaumont, President of Google Asia Pacific (APAC). In his address, PM Sharif praised Google for its global and local contributions, emphasizing the immense potential of Pakistan’s young generation in advancing IT and driving economic growth. He outlined the government’s ambitious goal of achieving $25 billion in IT exports over the next five years, calling it an attainable target. #Google and #Pakistan take a big step towards improving education in the country 💻📚 As part of Agay Barho: A Google for Pakistan Event, Google announced it has partnered with Pakistan's Ministry of Education on a groundbreaking initiative focusing on giving children the tools they need to learn and grow. They have committed to providing 500,000 Chromebooks to schools throughout Pakistan, teaming up with Allied Corporation to ensure these devices are assembled locally by 2025. Pakistan has lots of potential in the #IT space - “Pakistan's IT services exports have grown by 2.7 times since 2014, reaching 35% of all service-sector exports in 2023”. Latest reports hint towards this potential - "In order to harness Pakistan’s #digital export potential, the report highlights a strong need for investing in digital skills #training and #education for the workforce to ensure competitiveness and readiness to participate in the digital economy. Narrowing the digital skills gap through digital skills training and greater adoption of education technologies can add Rs2.8 trillion to Pakistan’s #GDP in 2030". Hope this has the intended effect!

IT Export can’t be boosted with paper policies, documentary targets and shallow slogans. The ground realities of seriousness of the past governments during last 30-35 years is before the nation. There should be a clear political will, consistency and cogent measures to win the confidence of the I T professionals & investors to thinking of investing their time and money.
