So if you beat me in this squash match, you will have to play your best and be in your best shape. And you will know that the same is true if I am to prevail over you. Thus, we both win over time by becoming the best we can be. Pakistan just lost three matches in a row in World Cup and looking down the barrel, however there are some management lessons here, let's unwrap. 1- Pakistan was number 1 ODI team entering the world cup (even after the thrashing they are number 2 and the distance from number 1 is not huge). It was said that we have the best bowling attack, one of the best bowling units and very energetic fielding unit. However, just before the world cup, one of our supreme fast bowler got injured, due to excessive workload. Lesson: Identify your top talent and then Protect them. No matter how strong your team looks, sometimes taking one pillar out puts the whole team down and breaks the combination. 2- As we entered the tournament, we had number 1 batter in the world in ranking. He is unable to perform. Lesson: If you are at the top, you have to work doubly hard to stay on top. 3- We lost to Afghanistan which is a wonderful team but not that experienced. Where do we go from here? Way Forward : Individuals, teams, companies go through a lot in their journey. They are always remembered for their ability and character on how they got up. Acknowledge there is a "problem" & respond. Your ability to land punches is important but what makes you a boxing champion is the resilience to not fall down after having many punches.
