🎵 I say I don't want that, but what if I do?🎵 Do you ever feel like you are in multiple places at once? I certainly do (and it's a little more complicated than just physically being in four US states simultaneously like in this photo 😂) I'm in a place where I want to push on with my career 💪, but I already feel like I'm overstretched without that additional pressure 🤯. I'm in a place where I want to take things slow, rest and recuperate 😴, but know that I've been trying that for a while and yet I still feel depleted 🥱. I'm in a place where I want to say yes to everything that sparks my interest 💥, but I'm already spinning too many plates 🫨. I'm in a place where I am focusing on short term 'wins' ✅, but I know that it's sabotaging my long term success ⛔. Anyone else resonate with this? All these thoughts have been swimming around in my head for some time. And tbh I think it's really hard to unpack all of that or step back and see the whole picture without some proper help. So I'm very pleased to be starting some coaching with Kasia Gawełko to work through all of the above. (And more - you wouldn't believe it but I don't share *everything* on here 😂) I'm so excited and energised to see what we can achieve... In some ways it has flown by... But in others, so much has changed that it feels like an age. Husband, dog, house, career - all of which have happened in the time since he's been gone. I wish he could see it all 💔

🎵 Can makе you dance and make you cry Make you wanna give it one more try🎵 ^^What's that you say...non-Taylor lyrics?! I'm here today to dispel a widely held* misconception... And that misconception is that I only listen to Taylor Swift! Not true at all (although she has featured heavily in my soundtrack to the last few months...) But I will confess that my early love of Taylor as a teen has greatly influenced my musical taste From Taylor to Carrie Underwood From Carrie to Lady A (who are today's lyrics choice, prompted by this selfie with Kym Francis from when we went to see them a *few* years back) And from there we discovered Country 2 Country (a country festival which takes place at the O2 every March) Which meant Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, Kasey Musgraves, Ashley McBryde and many many more. So yeah I'm a country fan. And it's not that old school 'Country and Western' type vibe that everyone thinks of... But otherwise the whole genre is just so me The story telling, the harmonies, the fun and freedom to dance and cry... What more could you want?! 🎵 When it's like every single line was written just for you Ain't it crazy what a song can do?🎵 *And when I say widely held misconception, what I actually mean is this post is entirely triggered by Jono Randell-Nash's comments on my post on Monday. Although I'm sure a few of you had also thought the same! 😂

It's time for my weekly round up 🌟 Monday 🌟 I wasn't working... Although I'm struggling to recall why 💃🪩😜 🌟 Tuesday 🌟 Emails, emails and more emails... How is it possible that one day of annual leave requires the best part of a day to catch up. I also had a call with Jessica Cherry to catch up on all the things we are working on together at the moment. And then a call with a client and other advisers about some pre budget tax planning. Finished the day with a Pro Network, and it was lovely to catch up with Mark Winchester Beth Thomas Toby Allebon Chartered MCSI, FPFS Edward Green Oliver Phillips Angus Wood Hayley Layt and others Shame I didn't get any photos, but it was a lovely evening at a pub on the river 🌟 Wednesday 🌟 I really enjoy the content creation part of my job (for those who don't know, I head up the Private Client content team, with the aim to increase the levels of content we produce - eg blogs, articles, webinars etc) But sometimes I end up down a massive rabbit hole with nothing to show for it. And that was Wednesday morning. There was an idea for article which sounded great, but for one reason or another we've decided not to press ahead. Although... I came to that decision after I'd spent two hours trying to progress it, liaising internally/reading up on the subject etc. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose (time!) But the highlight of Wednesday was an intro call with Kasia Gawełko a fab coach and self titled 'mind whisperer'. I've been really enjoying her content on here for a while, and I'm excited to start working together - more on that soon 🌟 Thursday🌟 So much potential new work at the moment, today was spent: 🔸Following up with an enquiry for a client who wants to talk about restructuring his business into a family investment company 🔸Speaking to some potential new clients about some US/UK tax planning 🔸Prepping for a new client meeting It was also a fairly social day too though.. Including lunch with Harriet Romanowski (and her new plant IYKYK), for a general life catch up and hearing about her new role at CKLG Accountants & Chartered Tax Advisers And a catch up with Elisha Odotei, who is currently an intern here at Mills & Reeve, to hear all about her experience here and what she's got planned next! 🌟 Friday 🌟 More new things, including picking up a couple of new referrals: 🔸More Family Investment Company work 🔸A referral from a Swiss lawyer (thanks for making that connection Ania Tarasiewicz) for some Swiss/UK estate planning And now time to tick off some more items on the to do list before a meeting out of the office this afternoon to talk wills, LPAs and some techy trusts work Phew. ⚠ Shareholders Beware ⚠ With the number of business owners (or those who advise business owners) in my network, I couldn't not share this article from the fab Georgie Blears. Georgie and Richard Dawson-Gerrard acted for the defrauded shareholder in this case, whose shares had been transferred by way of a forged stock transfer form. The result was that the company's register of members is conclusive of legal ownership of shares, even where they have been updated as a result of forgery. Not only is this a cautionary tale to make sure to ensure you know who is in control of the register of members, and keeping an eye out for updates, but also simply in making sure registers are up to date. I know a number of clients whose registers aren't necessarily as up to date as they should be - and this just highlights the implications... The people listed on the register of members ARE the legal owners of the shares, even if you think the register is wrong. And I did have the time of my life. What a night! Despite having seen the show twice before (not counting the Disney+ version or watching through a grainy livestream), it was incredible. 🎵 So make the friendship bracelets Take the moment and taste it 🎵 Haaaaave I mentioned I'm off to see Taylor Swift again today? 😂😂😂 And while I'm obviously so excited to see her for the third time... I'm sad that this show means our summer of Taylor is drawing to a close It's been so much fun... From making friendship bracelets to swap at concerts, screaming lyrics along with thousands of others and bonding with strangers over a shared love of T Swift To planning trips with my best friend - a girls' weekend in Stockholm and bringing the husbands along for Edinburgh, plus planning outfits, nail colours and makeup looks From the constant Taylor soundtrack in our home, tuning in to a grainy livestream to hear surprise songs and talking re release theories* To singing along at the top of my voice to songs that helped teenage me to heal and feel seen, and to songs that helped 30 year old me to, well tbh, heal and feel seen. Thank you Taylor, for making this summer SO MUCH FUN! And thanks to Kym Francis for sharing this incredible ride with me. So the Eras nails are painted, my third sequinned outfit is ready, and the glitter is packed.
