Interesting article regarding Mental Health and Olympic Caliber Athletes. “I’d like to think we’re over the hump, but we’re still not quite there. I feel like there is still some stigma. I think there’s still some connections to ‘weakness’.” Said Jessica Bartley, the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee’s senior director of psychological services. Moreover, about half of the country’s athletes at the past two Olympiads were flagged for at least one of the following: anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, eating disorders, substance use or abuse. At Better Together we want to stay ahead of this. Remove the stigma, get young athletes together, get them thinking and talking about their own mental health, teach them about mental skill building, how to handle expectations, avoid the complications and provide mentors for support at a younger age. Put our Better Together program is in place for your student-athletes that aspire to play college athletics or have olympic dreams. We are Better Together.
