Leadership Coach. Accomplished and organised leader expert at conceptualising & implementing strategic initiatives to propel achievement of business goals.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗮𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 More than 23 million adults in the UK remain untrained in the life-saving skill of CPR. This alarming statistic underscores a significant oversight in our national health education system. With cardiac arrests being one of the leading causes of death worldwide, the importance of widespread CPR knowledge cannot be overstated. CPR training equips individuals with the essential skills to save lives in critical moments before emergency services arrive. However, many people lack access to training despite its importance or are unaware of its significance. This gap in our health education has far-reaching implications for individual health and safety and our collective ability to respond to emergencies within our communities. As we move forward, we must address this shortfall. Increasing accessibility to CPR training, integrating it into school curriculums, and raising public awareness about its importance are critical steps towards a safer and more prepared society. It’s time for policymakers, educational institutions, and community leaders to act together to ensure everyone has the knowledge and confidence to perform CPR when needed. Together, we can bridge this gap and build stronger, healthier communities where everyone is equipped to save a life.

Many administrators or athletic directors who are asked to oversee health education programs have no health education experience. If this describes you or someone you work for, I have a FREE, five-day email course, "The Essentials of Health Education for Administrators." It's made up of short, five-minute emails and focuses on how administrators can take stock of where their program is now and where they want to take it while laying a foundation for what quality health education looks like. There's so much I didn't even get into in this "bite-sized" course, but consider it a starting point. Sign up here: https://lnkd.in/eypjUd6Q

Join the Region IV Public Health Training Center and Trust for America's Health for this upcoming learning opportunity: September 17: Age-Friendly Public Health Systems in Action | 12 pm EST To register: https://buff.ly/3XCd7M2 Over the last 10 years, the number of adults in the U.S. aged 65 and over increased by over 34%, and is expected to grow to 98 million, or 24% of the U.S. population by 2060. Healthy aging has not historically been central to the public health agenda but clearly, public health interventions are at least partly responsible for the longevity we are experiencing today. Trust for America’s Health (TFAH) is working to elevate healthy aging as a core public health function through its Age-Friendly Public Health Systems (AFPHS) movement, based on a framework of six tenets that are guiding public health efforts to improve older adult health and well-being. This web training session will introduce participants to AFPHS, including examples from one local and one state health department that have adopted and implemented APHFS principles.
