We’re impressed by the great interest in our new #AEM Flex 120 electrolyser – the requests keep coming in for a wide range of application areas👇 Last September, we officially unveiled our first commercial AEM Flex 120 electrolyser at our Enapter Campus in Saerbeck, Germany. Since then, Enapter has experienced very high demand and already received orders for a total of 27 units from Europe, Asia and Africa. With the 𝗔𝗘𝗠 𝗙𝗹𝗲𝘅 𝟭𝟮𝟬, we’re addressing the market gap between the single-core AEM EL 4 (1 kg/day) and our megawatt-scale AEM Nexus 1000 electrolyser (450 kg/day). The AEM Flex 120 is designed for rapid, simplified launch of low-cost green hydrogen projects: • Featuring up to 50 AEM Stack core modules • Modular design providing for built-in redundancy • High reactivity to fluctuating renewables • Producing ~54kg of green hydrogen/day • H2 at 99.999% purity with optional dryer • Can meet H2 production demands ranging from 70-480 kW German brick producer ABC-Klinkergruppe is our first customer for the AEM Flex 120, being one of the many companies using natural gas for “process heat” in their production furnaces. They opted for the AEM Flex 120 to counter natural gas price fluctuations by piloting their production and use of cost-effective clean hydrogen gas at short notice. ABC Klinker will start to decarbonise their activities by blending locally produced green hydrogen into their furnace gas mix. The AEM Flex 120 allows customers to choose the exact amount of hydrogen production needed – from 70kW to 120kW per electrolyser – with the possibility to later add production capacity for those who start small. By avoiding oversizing and using cost-efficient AEM technology, this product offers a low-cost option to pilot green hydrogen. The skid-mounted product is designed for simple and rapid integration into customer environments. Using Enapter’s energy management software, hydrogen production, storage and transmission can be monitored automatically and remotely. This ensures the efficient use of available energy, a reliable hydrogen supply and minimised maintenance. Our megawatt-class #AEM Electrolysers are set to make a significant contribution to the development of Italy’s Hydrogen Valleys⬇️ Italy, the birthplace of Enapter and #AEM Electrolysis, is quickly emerging as one of Europe’s fastest-growing hydrogen markets, fueled in part by Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). Allocating €3.6 billion to hydrogen supply chain development, this plan sets aside €500 million for creating 52 Hydrogen Valleys to promote the production and use of green hydrogen, favoring abandoned industrial areas. Our large-scale AEM Electrolysers are set to become a crucial component in this initiative. With the AEM Nexus, Enapter offers a highly efficient, industrial-scale electrolyser. Its modular multi-core design features built-in redundancy, ensuring maximum uptime and reactivity to fluctuating renewable energy at any load. Enapter has already secured 11.5 MW in binding contracts across several key projects: • CFFT - Logistics: 3 MW (H2 refuelling) • #FILMS (OMCD Group): 1MW (industrial process heat) • SANGRAF International: 1.5 MW (industrial process heat) • Cogne Acciai Speciali S.p.A.: 1 MW (industrial process heat) • Renco/#Pollarini Group: 4 MW (H2 refuelling) • #FMC: 1 MW (industrial process heat) The establishment of a nationwide hydrogen infrastructure in Italy opens up substantial sales potential and further growth opportunities for Enapter. Our team is also in advanced discussions with various companies and regions as further Italian Hydrogen Valleys take shape. We’re proud that our AEM technology will contribute to a cleaner industry, economy and environment in our home market Italy. Yesterday AHC member Fortescue officially opened its cutting-edge electrolyser facility in Gladstone, Queensland. The facility is the first stage of a wider Green Energy Manufacturing Centre that is being developed by Fortescue on the 100-hectare Gladstone site. This facility is one of the first globally to house an automated assembly line and the first manufacturing facility in Australia to build electrolysers at a commercial scale. 2GW of Proton Exchange Membrane electrolyser stacks will be produced at the 15,000sqm advanced manufacturing facility annually, which was constructed and fully commissioned in just over 2 years. The next phase, a 50-megawatt green hydrogen production facility, PEM50, received approval on Monday from Queensland’s Coordinator-General and will form the next stage of the centre’s development by using the locally made electrolysers to produce green hydrogen for local and export markets. 🌟 Shaping Tomorrow's Energy Landscape: Ammonia's Crucial Role in Hydrogen Transport 🚀 As we stand on the cusp of a new energy era, ammonia emerges as a pivotal player in revolutionizing hydrogen transport, addressing a critical challenge in the transition to clean energy. NH3 cracking has garnered significant attention as the final step in the process chain for hydrogen transport, utilizing ammonia as a carrier. While the potential of NH3 cracking is undeniable, several concerns, including safety and scalability, loom large. However, the primary obstacle remains cost, both in terms of dollars and efficiency. Even with cutting-edge cracking technologies like those from AFC, which consume slightly less than 10kWh/kg of H2 produced, the energy required for NH3 cracking accounts for almost 30% of the total energy of the H2 fuel, impacting the overall efficiency of the hydrogen transport chain. To address this challenge, two distinct paths lie ahead: 1. Enhance NH3 Cracking Efficiency: Efforts must focus on improving the efficiency of NH3 cracking, reducing the energy required by an order of magnitude to bolster overall efficiency. 2. Direct Conversion of NH3 to Electricity: A path close to my heart and the focus of my recent work involves bypassing the need to crack NH3 back into H2 by directly converting NH3 to electricity. This approach holds immense promise and warrants further exploration. Both pathways offer a diverse range of use cases and must be pursued concurrently to scale the hydrogen economy and overcome its primary obstacle: hydrogen storage. As we navigate this transformative journey, let's collaborate and innovate to unlock the full potential of ammonia in revolutionizing hydrogen transport and driving us towards a sustainable energy future. #AmmoniaCracking #HydrogenTransport #CleanEnergy #Innovation #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy Sources: 1. https://lnkd.in/guuW5bhn 2. https://lnkd.in/g2a7B7aS
