👷♂️ A great afternoon at Celtic Offsite’s timber frame factory, giving our young trainee’s an opportunity to learn more about MMC construction. It was great to learn more about the social enterprise that manufactures low carbon homes and supports the local economy to thrive. Thank you to Jodie Follett and Neil Robins for showing us around and educating us on the manufacturing of high quality, sustainable timber frame structures. Timely post by our pioneering colleague Russ Vaagen @ Vaagen Timbers - Mass Timber for datacenters and light industrial. I'll add that also considering a hybrid steel / timber solution will expand opportunities in the sector even further. Russ also shares a couple important soundbites about the connection to our forests - this continues to be an under represented piece of the Mass Timber story and we can't do any of this without healthy forests. That's why many of our presentations are titled "Tree to Key". Onward & Upward!
How mass timber revolutionizes industrial building construction, mitigates wildfire risks, and stores carbon for a sustainable future, exemplified by Vaagen Timbers' innovative approach in utilizing this eco-friendly material for data centers and distribution centers.

Talk timber with us! Join us for an engaging discussion on how mass timber—large, engineered wood materials—is transforming sustainable construction. Discover how these innovations allow us to build taller and more efficiently while promoting forest conservation and reforestation. Plus, enjoy games, prizes, and beer! You’ll also learn how our new neighbors, Lilypad Solar Boats, are applying circular economy principles and using locally sourced Black Locust for their marine wood decking. Guest Speakers: Sandra Lupien, Director of Mass Timber at MSU, and Dana Lowell, CEO of Lilypad Labs. “Using huge engineered wood construction materials – mass timber – enables us to build big buildings from a renewable resource more efficiently, more sustainably, and more beautifully. With mass timber, we create buildings that actually store carbon, and can benefit rural economies and create incentives to plant more trees.” – Sandra Lupien Healthy forests, healthy waters, healthy habitats. “Wood in construction will become mainstream in the next five years. Growth will be driven by the sustainability debate, the promotion of low-carbon construction and improvements in efficiency and cost competitiveness. " says Laura Mattila. ➡ As a Sales VP for Central Europe and the US, she has seen the sift towards climate and material sustainability themes when having discussion with customers. "The life-cycle thinking in construction will be strengthened and wood will offer a solution not only for carbon storage but also for reuse and recycling at the end of its life cycle." ♻💡 Read the whole post: https://lnkd.in/dt7B2GqU
