✨ A new milestone for Bioxodes! We have enrolled the first 8 patients in a clinical trial with BIOX-101, our candidate drug to treat intracerebral hemorrhagic stroke (ICH), a devastating type of stroke with poor prognosis, for which there currently is no treatment. BIOX-101, derived from the saliva of the tick, halts the formation of blood clots without causing further bleeding. It also prevents the harmful neuroinflammatory reactions that often follow a stroke, by inhibiting the activation of neutrophils, a type of white blood cell that often acts as the first responders of the inflammatory system. The Phase 2a trial, led by Prof Robin Lemmens, a world-leading stroke authority and head of clinic at the University Hospital Leuven, aims to enroll 32 patients, and we are expecting interim results for the first 16 patients by the fourth quarter of 2024. Great to see our partnership with Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NNUH) and University of East Anglia in a trial to study lung disease featured on the BBC News. TIPAL trial (Treating People with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis with the Addition of Lanzoprazole) is a mulitcentre clinical trial designed to find out if proton pump inhibitors (anti-acid drugs) are beneficial for people with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (a lung scarring condition) by assessing lung size, breathlessness scores and coughing. It is the UK’s largest government funded pulmonary fibrosis trial. The TIPAL trial will run a sub-study in parallel to assess the efficacy of our groundbreaking e-Lung platform, an AI-powered image processing module and tool that standardizes the quantification of lung fibrosis on High Resolution (HR) CT scans to more accurately identify progressive fibrosis patients. https://lnkd.in/ezwdVVWR More information about the TIPAL study can be found at https://lnkd.in/eQRaB9_G #lungdisease #IPF #AI #Techbio
