😍 Big fan of the chart that VideoWeek made using Digital i's global, harmonised viewing data 😍 🖼 With the big streamers releasing first-party data surrounding total number of views at various frequencies, it's always nice to look at the big picture. 📢 Yes, we know what the biggest name titles are on these platforms because they're almost always announced. ❔ But when the global viewer isn't watching the next big release or high profile title, what are they doing? 📺 The truth is, much of the time, we consume streamed content the same way we consumed TV. 🌐 Sure, as consumers we are spoilt for choice with the vast availability of challenging, cutting-edge content that's released from all around the world straight to the little screen, but.... ☕ We still search for background comfort TV and although there aren't full days of reruns or repeats on SVOD, we curate our own viewing schedule to maintain that habit. What's your guilty pleasure long-running TV series? Mine are currently 🛥 Below Deck and 🏥 The Resident.
From this week's Week in Charts: Grey's Anatomy was the most-watched show on streaming services by viewing hours during H1 2024, according to Digital i's analysis of select markets. While all of the top 10 shows appeared on Netflix, just one Netflix Original (Bridgerton) made the top 10. Sign up to the newsletter to receive the weekly insights: https://lnkd.in/dfdFn2Ce

Streaming isn't the cash cow it once was (was it ever?) for record labels. With the market flooded, it's harder than ever to make a decent buck from digital platforms. So, what's the play? Think beyond streaming. Consider sync deals for film and TV. Offer sample packs for budding producers. Engage with fans directly through special experiences and paid VIP lists. Why not turn your label into a brand people love? There's a world of opportunity out there. What ways are you monetizing your label?

Recently Fox launched their streaming service Tubi, in the UK. The difference between Tubi and Netflix? Tubi is completely free. With Netflix customers unhappy about sudden changes in subscription charges, we may see an exodus to Tubi. However, this could mean some interesting times ahead for the film and TV industry. Nowadays, streaming services like Netflix, are helping to fund the production of tv shows and films. Advertising and injections of money from outside companies, also help. But do you think free streaming, will mean a drop in production quality? Will we end up getting repeats of old shows on these streaming services and less new, exciting ones? Do you have Tubi? #tubi #netflix #tvandfilmindustry #consumers #streamingservices #knowinglyselect
