This week, we'll provide deep insights about femtech, reflect on the state of female founders, and analyze the ecosystem for femtech startups in different countries! The Aurora Tech Award is a global prize for women founders of tech startups, powered by inDrive. Only 2-3% of venture capital goes to women founders now The mission of the Aurora Tech Award is to fight gender bias in tech entrepreneurship. The award was held for the 3rd time throughout 2023-2024. Last time, there were 649 qualified applications, covering 101 countries, with 20 startups shortlisted. Ekaterina Smirnova, head of the Award: "I believe that the main problem isn't women's ability to launch companies but securing funding. Only 2-3% of venture capital goes to women founders, according to Crunchbase. We showcase women-led startups to the global investment community and introduce great role models to society. But actually, by supporting women founders, you can do much more than addressing gender imbalance. For example, in Nigeria, fewer people will die due to better emergency medical services from our winner Folake Owodunni's project, Emergency Response." Copy

We proudly announce Femtech Week! Get ready to dive into women's health, discover the hottest trends, uncover hidden segments, and count the money. We'll also tackle the big question: are there more women in femtech? This week is in collaboration with Femtech Force, who have generously shared their knowledge with us. Let's get started! 🙌🚀 🧐 What do femtech products do? Historically, health studies have focused on cisgender men’s bodies, leaving significant gaps in knowledge about others. This lack of knowledge has affected the way we are treated, but it has also expanded the opportunities for femtech startups. So, what femtech products do is: Better health of people with vaginas → Broaden their opportunities → Wipe off the stigma 🧐 Why is it important for women entrepreneurs to get involved in femtech? It’s simply because women (and other people with vaginas, so let’s mark it with a *) can pay better attention and understand other women's* problems. Studies show that over 65% of patients with chronic pain, Parkinson's Disease, post-acute stroke, and pelvic floor disorders do not fully recover with current treatments - resulting in hospital readmissions and ER visits.
