Learn why we need large-scale transmission in the MIT Technology Review: As it stands, the meager links between the Eastern Interconnection and Western Interconnection amount to “tiny little soda straws connecting two Olympic swimming pools,” says Rob Gramlich, president of Grid Strategies LLC Strategies, a consultancy in Washington, DC. " Read more from James Temple about how Michael Skelly plans to build some of the interregional transmission we need: https://lnkd.in/gnFK9r_G

The New North-West Hydrogen Economy: (New North-West=BC/AB/SK/MB/Yukon/NWT/Nunuvut): Build a Ludwigshafen Hydrogen Economy in the New North-West that supports the decarbonization of the rei-ndustrialization of north America. NET Power/8RH2 are perfect for the New North-West's use & for its export of LNG to help the world reduce its emissions by using natural gas to generate 0 emissions electricity via NET Power & hydrogen/ammonia economy via 8RH2 via the energy genius of Rodney Allam! The other approach that can support the production of 'pink hydrogen' in the New North-West is the use of SK uranium with new CANDU Monark reactors that may also be relevant to the oilsands of AB/BC. The bonus of course is that no enriched uranium from Russia is required in CANDU reactors. Hydrogen produced in the New North-West can be used in Ballard or Cummins hydrogen powered vehicles like Winnipeg based Versatile is doing with their tractors.

What is pitching of the wind turbine blades? Wind turbine pitch refers to the mechanism by which the angle of the turbine blades is adjusted to optimize energy generation. By altering the pitch angle, the blades can effectively capture the maximum amount of wind energy available while ensuring the turbine operates within safe operational limits. This adjustment allows turbines to maintain efficiency and stability in varying wind speeds and directions, contributing to reliable and consistent electricity production from wind power. https://lnkd.in/eGVztTSW

Just a year ago most cried for scale, scale, scale to get cost down. The few of us having the full picture and proof of what it takes to kick of the learning curve of Floating Offshore Wind, have argued for a while we must start with pre-commercial scale projects. We must reduce the risk and cost before large scale. Like #GoliatVIND and more of them, demonstrating the full scale technology totally different from anything so far being demonstrated. Today's (disappointing) news is another reality check of where we are in FOW and misalignment between understanding and required measures. My point in the article attached is the Norwegian Government must open up for more semi-commercial scale projects and not just reduce large scale projects to one. Its still in the hands of the Government and Energidepartementet (Norge) to kick off a successful start, but we haven't seen it yet. Source Galileo Norge Odfjell Oceanwind

"No force on earth can stop an idea whose time has come”. ― Victor Hugo Renewable Norway (Fornybar Norge) not only lacks credible arguments against nuclear power, but increasingly also lacks credible argument for variable renewable energy (VRE) such as wind power. With increasing focus on destruction of nature when large industrial VRE assets are located, high costs, high/volatile electricity prices and small improvements in life-cycle emissions, the VRE narrative is becoming more and more difficult to sell. I think that the general population in Norway have realized that VREs have far greater limitations that the industry initially told. There is essentially a real lack of trust due to overselling and underperforming. The opening of several large cables to the European continent to smooth out variability/balance the VREs, have on top brought Norway record high electricity prices. https://lnkd.in/dzRjqMam

Addressing the issue of ports' connectivity, capacity & space is essential to support the significant opportunities that offshore wind presents to the UK. This involves a multifaceted stakeholder approach to expand existing port infrastructure including berths, storage and access, while minimizing the environmental impact from both a construction and operational perspective. The impact of the considerable space requirements and associated environmental footprint is one that ELIRE Infra identified, and our SmartHubs have been developed as a solution to this. #infrastructure #environment #innovation
